Custom bike builder Jesse James has announced that his newest creation, a glistening aluminum-clad motorcycle and sidecar combo for client Airstream will make its first public debut at the Legend of the Motorcycle Concours on May 3rd. James and his welders machined, riveted and hammered 18-gauge steel and razor-thin aluminum into a space-age looking vehicle, applying some of the same construction methods Airstream uses in its shiny luxury trailers. So, you can expect quite an interesting bike. At the inaugural Concours in 2006, James debuted his Radial Hell aero bike powered by a 7-cylinder Rotec radial aircraft (picture). Shinya Kimura, Billy Lane and Paul Cox also plan to unveil something new at the May event. The 3rd annual Legend of the Motorcycle takes place the first weekend in May, Saturday the 3rd, on the lawns of the Ocean Side Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, California, just south of San Francisco. Tickets can be purchased, and additional information can be found at Legend Of The Motorcycle.

Sounds cool — love the part about the WestCoast welders. . .

Scooter Art needs to look in new directions.
The v-twin formula is old hat.
V-twins are everywhere. Everybody builds em.
And that’s fine for customers who want to buy into a “biker life-style.”
Moreover, with all the discussion about the economy, it’s obvious that
they either don’t want it and/or they can’t pay for it.
So, maybe to command high end prices will require something more.
Looks to me like JJ is at the leading edge of “Scooter Art.”
Think of all the other cool power plants there are, just waiting for a “non-formula” scooter to be built around-em…..
All it takes is imagination………. 🙂

(you’ll never see it if ya can’t feel it)
As I was reading the post, I was wondering whether or not there would be a v-twin in this bike. I won’t be surprised if there is a different powerplant in the bike. A Hayabusa engine powering a slick, “retro modern” rig (in the vein of Airstream) would be cool.
A triumph triple (either the big one or the sportbike triple) would be even more interesting than the Hayabusa engine.
Well…..
Something interesting…. With imagination…..
Please!
