“Jesse James Is A Dead Man”.

Jesse James is taking the role of a modern-day daredevil in a new Spike TV Series premiering in February 2009. In this series, each week viewers will get to experience Jesse James taking on death-defying physical challenges. With CGI effects, viewers get a taste of the enormity of the stunt preparation, of the stunt itself revealing the physiological stress James’ body will endure. What kind of challenges can you expect? For examples, the grueling and lawless off-road race, the Baja 500, and hitting over 200 mph on a Nitro bike supercharged by ultra-combustible nitro-methane fuel. Jesse James and his production company, Payupsucker Productions, serving as an executive producer. Spike TV signed James to a multi-year talent deal in October 2007, and this project represents his first series with the network. Spike TV is available in 96.1 million homes and is a division of MTV Networks, a unit of Viacom

I’d like to see Jesse do something interesting with this show instead of the typical stuff… maybe a real speed record at the salt flats, or a coast to coast time record on a bike, or something that is a genuine competition and not just an exhibition.

    “… taking on death-defying physical challenges…”

Sounds like a “stunt man” version of Monster Garage…..

Sorry, doesn’t sound interesting to me.

beleive me guys i have had my shop 13 years and just recently i have started working with speed channel.hopefully i will have an announcement soon..but t.v. and production is where the money is. and if you can keep creative control its also fun. like building a bike in a cool way then letting 96.1 million homes have the chance to see it.i will never give up my shop..but t.v. is where its at.im not a sell out and dont plan on getting famous but it will supplement my income greatly and at this time in our economy who couldnt use a little extra gas money?

  8. 8 bcarter Aug 28th, 2008 at 9:10 am

I agree with a1, but it’s not as simple as calling them up and scheduling a time to be on-air or everyone would have their shop on the Speed. BTW, Congratulations a1 for your upcoming work with Speed.

Jesse builds cool bikes. Dont really care about him being an adrenalin junkie or stuntman. What’s next, the Jesse James version of the Apprentice or maybe a cooking show?

    “arm band tattoo are gizzay”.

What does this mean? I’m in England so I don’t understand this.

  11. 11 burnout Aug 28th, 2008 at 10:23 am

Sounds like a good TV show………………if only I actually watched some TV! peace

saorijohn, that is Snoop Dogg talk for gay!

  13. 13 Gar Aug 28th, 2008 at 10:46 am

Sounds to me like Jesse’s ego meter and bank account may be running a tad low. What next a Jesse Game Show? If I could yawn in writing I would do so now.

  14. 14 saorijohn Aug 28th, 2008 at 11:24 am

“saorijohn, that is Snoop Dogg talk for gay!”

Cheers for clearing that up Burnout.

No wonder i didn’t understand. That old language barrier again.

So “arm band tattoo are gizzay” is a derisory comment about Jesse’s tattoo (because I’m pretty certain Jesse James ain’t gay) and not really anything to do with the main content of the blog?

  15. 15 jspfc Aug 28th, 2008 at 11:43 am

I am sure it was someone hating on Jesse, not that I think an arm band tatoo is anything great but to each their own.

In case you haven’t noticed, and yes I do it myself, a lot of comments in threads have nothing to do with the headline. On this thread, 2 of 14 comments have nothing to do with this show.

    It is a blog.

I was hoping that he was going to ride a Saxon from northern California to southern California – now that’s entertainment.

  17. 17 Gar Aug 28th, 2008 at 12:23 pm

A Saxon from Northern California to Southern California ,,,,,,, that could have taken all 12 shows to cover ,,,,,, he could in that case also inclde a “How-to-fix-it” portion in each show as an added extra bonus to the viewer.

I don’t think Saxon ever made a bike that could go that far without breaking down. But like Gar said it would take all the episodes to film. Off the subject but I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that has experienced their junk.

nicker…im actually on air “talent” not a build show its a race show..i think everyone will like it. bikes racing with a 10,000 dollar prize..and they also have paid me to build a giveaway bike for one episode..so without revealing everything some racers are going to be very happy.and i hope speed upper ups like it and it gets picked up right now its just pilot episodes..we will see. it will be press released here first of course!

  25. 25 jspfc Aug 29th, 2008 at 10:06 am

Jesse is a talented builder and designer of custom motorcycles.

Why he is doing this show is beyond me when I know a lot of people who would rather see him do magic with a motorcycle instead.

Once again nothing but sarcasm and jealousy……..

Are all of you that STUPID???!!!!! Seriously……..Do I need to spell it out for you??!!!

At a time when our industry is in the pits from a dead beat pres and you are complaining about a new TV show with JJ getting ready to hit 96 mil homes injecting the public with FREE exposure of our industry??!!!

And Buzz Kanter of all people……..you are “wondering” why he is doing what JJ is doing??!!! Let me tell you why Buzz!!!……….

BECAUSE HE CAN!!!!!!!………Unlike any of you!!!!!

And Buzz….you got bigger issues right now….every time that I pick up your magazine at the grocery store it’s the same ol boring blab…it’s night and day compared to Easyriders….additionally, it’s getting thinner and thinner as well. You are running out of advertisers buddy….you better drop your rates or put JJ on the cover so that you can sell a few more copies…….so you see Buzz….you need him more than he needs you! So you better call his agent and try to get something going……….

JJ is a multi talented person with many skills….he’s not just tied down to custom bikes. He has done extremely well for himself. He has evolved and is not scared to take it to the limit and try new things. It’s called…..T-A-L-E-N-T…….got it??!!

I’ve know JJ for over 15 years. I met him when I first got out of the military, we both worked out at the same gym……..the dude is the real deal…….he puts his money where his mouth is……..

And Jeff……you are right…..the Partridge Family is more of your speed anyway…….

You guys are starting to smell bad…really bad…

  34. 34 jspfc Sep 2nd, 2008 at 7:58 am

I think everyone agrees JJ is talented when it comes to building motorcycles, but no one cares about him being stunt man. I am not sure how him trying to be stunt man throws the light back on the motorcycle industry?? It will obviously give JJ exposure but that is about it.

I guess maybe if he did dancing with the stars that would give the industry exposure too????

  35. 35 Jeff Nicklus Sep 2nd, 2008 at 10:26 am

Here we go again. Didn’t you get bitch slapped enough in another blog here on this site for similar comments? Remember your head up your butt comments on OCC. Now you are defending Jesse. Wow!

FYI: Jesse is a personal friend of mine, as well, and has been such since way before he became famous with the Motorcycle Mania series of shows. I must have met him along the same period as you allege meeting him. The next time I talk to Jesse I will have to make a point of asking about you.

In my opinion, DTS, you should seek metal help for this inferiority complex you seem to harbor..

  36. 36 dark tan superman Sep 2nd, 2008 at 10:54 am

jspfc….who gives you the right to say weather no one cares about him being a stunt man??!! Are you speaking for all of us here??!!

I speak with JJ several times a year. JJ has been working out religiously and is in incredible shape. He has taken it to the next level. In case that you don’t know, he has been an athlete all of his life. As a matter of fact, he played football in college. So naturally, moving into a stunt man role is natural progression for him. He has an incredible team with him as well. Let’s face it, JJ is cuttting adge. He has done and is doing things his way. True or not??!!!

From what he has told me about the show, it’s going to be awsome. Seriously, hang on cause you are going to go on a ride. Believe me, non believers, you are going to be very, very surprised. So don’t count him out as a stunt man, he is going to shock you. Spyke TV is no fool, they signed him on due to a good reason………HE DELIVERS!!……Spyke TV’s main market segment is the 18 to 35 market. The UFC is their biggest show right now. As you know HD is the main sponsor of the UFC. Obviously HD knows their market very well. I personally know Dana White(UFC Pres) and I asked him what he thinks of JJ’s show and he thinks that it’s the real deal.

So for you downers and haters….give the show a chance and be supportive of JJ…..I assure you that you will be impressed.

  37. 37 dark tan superman Sep 2nd, 2008 at 11:30 am

    Nicklus………you are so full of shit it’s pathetic….. !!!

If you know him and are calling yourself a “friend”, then why are you bashing on the dude??? Why don’t you be a man and tell him that yourself!! The last time I checked, all my friends are supportive. But obviously in your way of life all you do is bash on people due to your insecurity and selfishness. In the military we gave guys like you the label as a “buddy f….er”.

You probably met him before at shows, but don’t jump the gun and call yourself a “friend”….specially after your stupid and negative comments. As a matter of fact, I knew Sandra(wife) before I met him. We both graduated for WLHS in VA. I have been a resident of CA since I got out of the service in 1988. I didn’t meet him till the early 90’s. Due to my line of work I have had the opportunity to meet some very interesting people. Some good and some not so good. That is all that I am going to say about it.

You better watch your big mouth……

  38. 38 Evobuilder Sep 2nd, 2008 at 12:12 pm

can we leave the name dropping out of the posts and discuss what is important… is he going to jumo a shark on waterskis or not?

Geesh… I know the shark and he told me he is all for it!

  39. 39 Jeff Nicklus Sep 2nd, 2008 at 12:30 pm

WHOOOOO I am scared. Let me run and hide from the big bad Dark Tan Superman. Let me go find my Kryptonite just in case.

My suggestion to you is give Jesse a call and ask him who knows who, I know I will be asking that question the next time I talk with him. Also, I don’t consider my opinion of his or any other “reality shows”, bashing a friend. He, Jesse, knows I wish him well in any of his business undertakings, however, I do not think another reality show is needed, his or anyone else’s. Nor do I believe his new show will do anything for or against the motorcycle industry.

I am, however, up to seeing anyone jump a shark on water skis!

Blah, blah, blah….as usual from you Jeff….now you are back peddling….it’s all good…I forgive you….considering the fact that I have a sense of humor.

If you don’t think that we need another reality TV show then I suggest that you don’t watch it…….what do you think?…good idea?! ……….However, something tells me that you will be watching it…..

And yes there is going to be some coverage on motorcycles…….

  41. 41 Jeff Nicklus Sep 2nd, 2008 at 4:56 pm

I fail to see where I am back peddling but whatever. It is a relief to know that my life is made whole now that I have been forgiven by the almighty Dark Tan Want-to-be-a-man, I mean, Superman.

I may or may not watch the show …. most likely not. I don’t do much TV but if I am flipping through the channels and hit on it I might watch a couple minutes of it. With Monster Garage for example I could count on one hand the total number of minutes I watched of that show.

  43. 43 Conrad Nicklus Sep 3rd, 2008 at 12:17 pm

    Dark Tan Superman,

Maybe is you know Jesse so well you should call him and ask him what this means to him, “Uncle Jeff”. Yea dickface thats what he calls my dad. Also, my father is pretty close with Jesse and they trade phone calls a lot. Jesse lives in Texas about 40 miles from me and we talk on occasion as well. He is now a part of South Austin Speed Shop and is there quite often when he is not at his place with Mrs. Sandra on Lake Austin. I remember my first Daytona in 2000. My dad told me to go over and see Jesse and tell him who I was because he wanted to meet me. When I got there he and Bill were standing outside of his trailer and he knew exactly who i was when I was walking up with just a Litlle Desperado shirt on. I hungout with him for hours that day and we just talked about everything including how much my father meant to him. People would come take pictures of him and some bikes and he would make them take the picture with me in it. Why? I dont know but I know he always talks well about my father and has been nothing but awesome to me and him.

Also, that same year at Daytona, Jesse sent me back to my dads truck with an arms full of WCC clothing and said when you egt back get in the truck and put one of the pieces on and sit next to your dad and see what he say. So I did. Dad laughed and told me to bring a bunch of stuff to Jesse from Desperado. I did and what did Jesse do??? HE PUT THEM ON IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY.

So for 4 years after that I would go see Jesse and Bill the second my dad picked me up from the airport. Even when they had moved down to the other side of the bridge on Main Street when they were crammed with people. Jesse and Bill would have one of the Police officers let me through the
caution tape and crowd to come sit on the couch with them and talk between the many autographs he had to sign.

See thats something you wouldnt understand. Jesse is a great guy and my dad is not bashing him at all. He is simply saying that the industry is tired of reality shows and we dont want to be hurt anymore. But I do feel that maybe by going back to the basics and having the original TV star come back it may help out the industry.

So before you start shit maybe you should do some research and not get all hot headed about nothing. Jesse is family and I am sure my father has called him and talked about you or left a message to find out about you. We dont have office numbers man we have the cell phone numbers. We dont see him on occasion a few times a year, all we have to do is a make a call and head to Austin Texas and we can have lunch/dinner/breakfast with the guy. He is family to us not a celebrity.

  44. 44 Jeff Nicklus Sep 3rd, 2008 at 1:26 pm

If I am not mistaken you were 8-9 years old that first year you went to Daytona Bike Week. Also that same year you met Arlen Ness, Cory Ness, Cyril Huze, Jesse, Ron Simms, Kendall Johnson etc, etc, all of which took you under their wings and treated you like one of their own …. as it should be.

“…Jesse builds cool bikes. Don’t really care about him being an adrenalin junkie or stuntman. What’s next, the Jesse James version of the Apprentice or maybe a cooking show?…”

“…I am not sure how him trying to be stunt man throws the light back on the motorcycle industry??…”

On the other hand, Dark-t-, looks lke you missed the boat once again.
As Jeff said, didn’t you get the message in a similar discussion regarding OCC….???.

Seems your getting general Celebrity-TV action confused with Scooter craftsmanship.
This blog is about the latter, not the former.

Lot’s of people here know JJ. But they’re interested in what he’s building.
And most could care less about where, when, or with whom he works-out.

JJ’s venture into Stunting isn’t any more interest than Indian Larry’s stunts. And it’s a damn shame Larry isn’t around to build any more scooters. That sorta thing might impress the OCC audience, but apparently it don’t cut much ice here.

However, the relevant issue here appears to be, not to expect a cool new JJ scooter like the Radial bike any time soon.
