Indian Motorcycle Launches Women’s Apparel

indianmotorcycleclothingDid you notice? Until now the new Indian Motorcycle had only a men’s apparel collection. Women must have done some magical dances around the Kings Mountain headquarter, praying the staff to provide for some feminine clothing. Indian Motorcycle just released its first collection of women’s apparel, and as expected from any motorcycle manufacturer, is made up of leather jackets, tops, belts and caps.  To notice, “The Ranger” leather jacket featured here is patterned after a jacket produced over half a century ago. Indian Motorcycle apparel is available for purchase through their dealerships or at the Indian Motorcycle Website. For wholesale inquiries on apparel and gifts, call 877-380-8686.

Do you think the Women let them know who held the purse strings and was the decision maker, magical.

Great. Nothing worse and further off-base than the official Harley-Davidson® “MotorClothes”™.
Maybe Indian will enlist the help of Italian designers and leave out any large Indian Head logo’s, unlike H-D® that insist on putting that bar and shield as big and as gaudy as humanly possible on every sleeve and lug sole edge and boot heel. Hee-Haw! Get a clue. Follow Indian’s lead.

Oops. Big Indian logo. Oh well. Maybe Ducati® will make a stock-style snap collar, zippered sleeve riding tunic without the billboard. It will take the Italians to take back M/C style from the “advertiser” designers.
Let the style sell the jacket.
Somewhere inconspicuous you may place a logo. We’re paying big money for leather goods. Unless these motorcycles companies are paying us to advertise, don’t buy anything hick.

The jacket the lady’s wearing looks good plain as it is. Want the Indian® logo somewhere? •Emboss a small logo on the sleeve somewhere.
    • Brass zippers too. Most of us don’t have windshields. The zipper gets alot of road dirt thrown at it.
    • Use horsehide for the tunic (wears and ages better than cowhide), w/ zippered (slash cut, hand-warmer pockets) and no vents or pleats or laces or added do-dads. Two chromed-brass snaps. Reach-over tab of the stand-up collar is 3/4″ wide. All french (overlap) seamed throughout. Satin lined body and sleeves, so when the satin wears (yrs. down the road) it frays out of the sleeve some, as cultured-scooter trash would want it to.
    • Slightly longer sleeves too, for handlebar reach.
    • Even cut tail. Longer in the body than an Eisenhower, but not where your siting on the tail.
    • Make one style with a dropped back (shirt tail) some people claim it eliminates a draft.
    Still need class distinction?
Make the same styles in cowhide, that sells for less than horsehide.
    • Besides black, find a deep chestnut brown leather – not the milk chocolate brown leather they’ve been using.

    • Make a leather vest in S, M, L, XXL. No side laces. (5) Buffalo nickle buttons.

Actually those front slash pockets should have a heavy-duty Nylon roll zipper (easier on the wrist). But the front zipper is heavy-duty brass. Ask YKK® they make the best.

And that brown leather vest? Make one style where there’s an entire outer edge of quilted nylon fiber-fill (down) roll. A leather vest with a roll outline. Snap-front closures on the nylon fiber-fill placket. Get it?
Note: Still a strong market for this item described, although most clubbers don’t like anything near or around their neck.

And that is one great picture. They sure got a lot of bang out of one Indian head logo and a leather jacket. Very nice composition. It says kick-start to me. I think it’s the best motorcycle t-shirt photo since Bob Dylan’s Hwy. 61 Re-visited.

Harley has that “oak leaf” logo they never use. It would work real well in this type of presentation.

The men’s Scout jacket is pretty close to perfect.

Yah I like the Scout Jacket also.

How do you know so much Kirk Perry?

I got churned multiple times through rag and shoe marketing.
Just an FYI….A trade axiom is “A shoe guy can go to the rag biz, but a rag guy cannot go over to shoes.” It has to do with sizing and the pre-pac order system.
But, I was wrong though when I said french seams were over-stitched ( I got confused with a Corbin® saddle makers stitch.) French seams are under-stitched.

And since you didn’t ask…….. we wish someone would make a skin-bracing “pre-shave” that smells like Cosmoline metal preservative.
And, a room deodorant that smells like “New Motor” (heated, new asphalt wire conduit and cloth-covered wiring, paint and H-D® motor oil combined). Ahhh…yes…breathe deep…. Woo! Good Morning ! 🙂

But back to motorcycle wear – I worked 18 mo’s. with customer service at Dickies® campaigning hard for 17” “Plumbers” shorts (like Carpenter shorts, but w/o the hammer loop), and things were going pretty good between myself & customer service (I had myself “talked into” seeing a 17”, 14.5 oz. (12 month wearable) denim, motorcycle cell phone/ruler-pocket shorts) appear in mid-February.
Poly-cotton utility shorts were all Dickies® could squeak out – for 2009.
At least the UPS, postal delivery and police departments will have their knees covered from now on, + an added 3” drop below the knee.
Except, when you make 17” shorts they HAVE to be made from a 20” leg opening, wide through the thigh, “LOOSE FIT” pattern, not the narrower “RELAXED FIT” pattern.
I told customer service all of this as part of my consultation. Okay?
So, in a textbook example of what happens when “an idea leaves your hands, someone will change it” syndrome – What happened is they made a decision to use a RELAX FIT pattern and the men’s 17″ sorts look like women’s pedal pushers. Yikes.

But, here’s how 17” “LOOSE FIT” KnuckleWear® is spreading the globe:
From France, the “Gallery” at http://hydra-glide.com/
    “…you’ll never… see (standing) men’s knees….. again” – J. Hendrix

    •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Long story short – 17” shorts are here for the next 20 yrs. But, Dickies® wrong turn set everybody back. And nobody makes 14.5 oz. work-denim like Dickies®. Not Levi-Strauss® and definitely not Lee®.
Nobody listens. Or somebody does – and meddlers manage to wreck the idea.
Synopsis: When you find an item you like, that fits, buy 12 of them. They won’t ever be made again.
