New Motorcycle TV Show. Wheelie Drag Racing At 120 Mph!

You know Rich Christensen for being the television producer of several shows like in 2005 “Pinks”,  then from its success “Pinks All Out” and “Pinks All Outtakes”. All about racing. This year, I met Rich looking for new ideas to pitch to networks and it seems (to be confirmed) that one of his (called “Wheelie Drags”) is about to be picked by the Speed Channel. What is all about? Wheelie Drag Racing at up to 120 mph. 16 participants will compete, have 200 feet to lift their motorcycle front wheel, then race on the rear wheel a full quarter mile! The risks? Huge, as you can imagine. And human nature being the way it is, I bet that audience will be huge, too. The most dangerous/insane motorcycle show ever. Due to the nature of the show and although all participants volunteer to release anyone and any company involved with the show of any legal action, I bet that the show is going to create a big controversy about the influence that this TV production may have on some type of bikers. Watch the pilot and tell me what you think.

Oh hell, If anyone is excited about this, we might as well bring back Roman Gladiator last man standing fights to the death. Everything is just getting really sick. That’s just my opinion.

Terrible idea for a TV show. This will make young men & boys want to participate in this show regardless of any injury they may substain. I believe in pushing the envelope, but this is to far. So, let me see if I get this right, kids are gonna get hurt in the name of TV ratings? Bad idea Rich & the SPEED CHANNEL should be ashamed to air such trash.

  4. 4 Patrick R. Dec 29th, 2009 at 11:10 am

It’s what’s wrong with our society. People would do anything for fame & money. In the name of sanity, viewers should boycott such a show. With bad ratings (audience) the show would be canceled. But I am afraid people love blood..

roman gladiators? how bout one of the highest rated shows on tv or pay per view.. UFC? ever heard of it? its real…this show is real nobody throwing wrenches or yelling..pure competition..and “men and boys wanting to participate” ? what do you think motorcycle racing is..safe? its exciting its dangerous..you guys need to rethink what blog your on….bikes are amazing, dangerous, loud, fast, cool….we ride for all different reasons but we ride..and wouldnt it be better if “men and boys” participated on a closed course with safety rules instead of on the highway next to you in your commuter car? really people wake up..its exciting, colorful and one more motorcycle show on t.v. is one more than we have now!

  6. 6 just my opinion Dec 29th, 2009 at 11:43 am

Anyone that has been around crotch rockets already knows that these guys that ride them do wheelies on our streets and highways at one hundred miles per hour. This show is no more responsible for that than we all are for riding motorcycles to start with. Many things in life are dangerous including riding motorcycles on two wheels. If people are worried that their kids will try this, then it is the parents responability to teach them the risks and dangers of doing so. It is not the TV shows job to teach or baby sit your kids people. TV shows are for entertaining period. I will watch this show. I bet it will be more entertaining than that new detroit show or was that show another rerun of monster garage I could not tell.

    I love it!!!!!
Mike from A-1 has the right idea. You want to talk about trash tv…there are way better examples of no morality on tv than this show. This is pure motorcycle entertainment. No B.S. drama…just a man & his machine. Stop bein pansies people. These guys have skills & are well aware of what they are doing & the risks involved.

  9. 9 Brian D Dec 29th, 2009 at 12:21 pm

Just My Opinion….You sir also get it. It is up to the parents to teach the kids that what is on TV is for entertainment only. I have to constantly remind my children that the way kids act on tv (no respect) is not how it is in real life. A tv show about wheelies does not build bad habits & flawed character….improper parenting does.

Anyone thinking this show is promoting this type of riding is wrong, this show is a RESULT of this type of stunt riding/racing already in existence. Skydiving, racing, speed record setting, test piloting, and an infinite list of other dangerous activities are interwoven in our post-industrial age where man meets machine. At least in this setting there will be rules, safety gear, rescue personnel, etc, to minimize as much as possible the risk of death or injury. Darwin in effect? Maybe, but they aren’t on the street (well, at least not on the day of filming).
Personally, I won’t watch it because I don’t care for this type of thing, but I certainly won’t condemn Speed Channel or anyone who wants to watch the show as being irresponsible.
I wish there were a Salt Flats Bike show with good coverage of all classes with details about the riders, the machines, and build teams, but I guess that would be regarded as irresponsible as well.

Hell, I will watch the show a time or two …. you know some of these idiots will bust their ass on National TV ….. nothing better than watching a thinning of the herd on TV! Hey, maybe we can get some of these Al-Qaeda idiots to volunteer to have a “Wheelie All-Out” live, we could strap one of their own bombs on each of their asses and the first one to drop the wheelie will blow his own ass up …. sometimes I even amaze myself with good ideas! Rich, you have my permission to use my idea FREE!

    Over & Out,

  12. 12 fuji Dec 29th, 2009 at 1:46 pm

It is what it is .
Is it any more dangerous than any other type of motorcycle racing or stunt riding including X -games, boat drags, car racing. It sure looks more controlled than jumping over 15 busses or the length of a foot ball field or to the top of a building and off.
Like going to a rodeo, how many stay on ?
Hell lets go have some Tea and crumpets or do a burn out until the tire blows , now that is excitement

Sounds about as exciting as watching flies fuck, burn out competitions, golf, and nascar. I like watching them do the high speed wheelies in traffic, on city streets. It is fun to quess which car will innevitably turn, stop, pull over, or open their door in front of the dare devil. I like to witness the process of evolution in person. One slight mistake, one less crotch rocket jockey on our school zones. Like Jeff said, maybe watch it once or twice but after that, you have seen it all. I would watch the show, if they took some of these would be terrorists, and drawn and quartered them behind several bikes doing wheelies in opposite directions. He who ends up with the biggest piece of ali baba dangling behind his bike, wins a second chance to do it all over again and a case of beer. I’m in!

I think this show is depraved. Watching amateurs likely harm themselves is not entertaining to well-adjusted human beings. My immediate response is that the waiver, particularly being filmed as part of the show, is actually a type of incentive. It seems to me that the track owners, television producers and participants are conspiring to film reckless acts that will likely end in injury. I would think this fits the definition of reckless endangerment, which is illegal in many states. If it does, this would pierce the waiver and permit civil liability. The only persons dumber than the participants are the TV producers whose personal liability will likely be sought in civil actions. My advice to the idiots producing this show: prepare for hours of civil depositions and set aside money for a judgment. For example — the helicopter and hospital didn’t agree to any waiver!

Retarded. Hey Rich, here is an idea……how about a show about REAL motorcycle drag racing? Some of the best sport on earth.

How that guy has marketed himself and his cast of other bald blowhards is beyond me, but you gotta give credit where credit is due. He is making stacks of $$. Pinks used to be a cool show when it was more about the cars and racers and less about the show.

I stand corrected. More blood and guts is what we all need. I’m all for the blood letting now. Thanks for all your input. Hell, it’s all about making money anyway. What’s a life or two in the process.

Freedomlaw; Which is more dangerous riding wheelies or trusting an attorney? You attorney’s crack me up. You guys are always looking for a way to sue someone for something even you can see is not a worthy cause. Why don’t you just be honest and say it? An Attorney would like to sue the promotors not because they are doing anything wrong, and not because they did not inform the people doing the wheelie drag racing of any dangers but simply because an attorney understands that their insurance would most likely cave to your Bullying Attorney tactics. It is cheaper to pay you blood suckers to go away than it is to fight it out in court. Attorney’s are a big problem in this country you guys have driven up the cost of health care and car insurance and even manufacturing cost with your bull shit liability law suits. And then you dare to call yourself freedomlaw. I have news for you buddy true freedom allows people to do dumb things even if they could be hurt or killed doing so. A better name might be “Ambulancechaser taking your rights away one lawsuit at a time” although that name is rather long at least that name would reflect your true nature.

Just goes to show you that squids are a self cancelling problem. Sadly this kind of irrelevant crap is the motorcycle racing that makes it on air. I think a real racer could kill these squids and their stunting. About as vaild to MC racing as boybands were to music.

hey! hey! Jeff and just my opinion
Your trash talking gets us nowhere. Now my sister wants to have your children.

  28. 28 just my opinion Dec 31st, 2009 at 1:27 pm

TS; If real racers can beat these guys at their game “wheelie racing” then I am sure the real racers will find their way to the show and do it. As for boy band not being relevant or valid as you say to music. Have you ever heard of a small boy band called THE BEATLES or ZZ TOP or maybe The Marshall Tucker band just because no one really used the term boybands before the nineties does not mean there were no boy bands before that time. In reality there was hundreds of so called boy bands and just because they were not called boy bands certainly does not make those bands non valid. Just because you or your kids have finally out grew the new kids on the block or back street boys does not make those bands invalid either. Have a nice day class dismissed.

I just want to see an all bike “Pinks” I have a bagger that has no problem running in the low 12′s, high 11′s. I have friends that run their baggers in the 10′s. Run HD against crotch rockets and the best rider wins. Just a thought. If not we will just go to the local drag strip and have fun without the cameras.

As much as I will be glued to my Television set watching this, I know it will inevitably be a route cause for a steep incline in deaths on the highway by both young riders and those who happen to get in their way.

    You just can’t fix stupid.

Oh yes, one other thing. Watch the helmet laws that we so enjoy here in Florida go down the tubes and watch our insurance rates skyrocket because of these very same people.

the best thing Rich has ever done was crash that GSXR trying to race down the track with no gear on. Another drawn out reality show. no thanks.
