Metal Church. Jesse James Teaches You Metal Fabrication For Free. Amen!

Hey. Jesse James just reminded me that working with his hands is what he does the best. So, he decided to share with you his fabrication and welding expertise asking me to tell you about Metal Church, a new series of free video lessons on metal working. In this first episode (see the rest at WCC), Jesse shows you the right way to draw, form & fabricate a gas tank. Watch, learn and just do it. Then every month  a new episode will be posted on his website at West Coast Choppers. Everybody going to Metal Church. Amen!

Back to the basics. JJ looks better doing his craft than doing show biz.

Interesting idea to get back his image of motorcycle builder. I am sure that if he gets a lot of traffic to watch his monthly videos, jesse will want people to pay to see them. And they will not. Maybe buy a tee-shirt, but not pay to watch them.

I think that the intro of this video with the choir is quite ridiculous. Looks like a pilot to sell a TV series. I like seeing Jesse doing his craft, but he is no god. Remove the bullshit gospel at the beginning. Or I will not watch #2.

I dont think Jesse gives a rats ass if anyone likes the intro or not. As usual, here we have someone doing something he thinks will help others, and we have someone thinking its all about what he wants or how a video should be made.

The video is just fine, and very interesting

    Jesse, nice work as always.

For you critics, Jesse could sit on his ass, but he doesn’t. He keeps bringing it. Either in an entertaining TV series doing stunts that very few people would have the courage to do, development of a killer new lifestyle magazine “GARAGE”, a new workwear clothing line, improved web site, or the most recent instructional videos teaching and sharing skills. And while he is doing all these things, he is consistent in his persona and delivery. Everything he does is real, entertaining, and professional. As a business owner and the creative force behind my company, I admire the way he goes about it. I echo his drive. Of course his stuff is better… he has resources that most don’t have. He has a production company (I have iMovie on my Mac), but he has achieved this on his own. He and his bikes are real and original. He set the stage for builders like me. Don’t critisize him for making his videos more entertaining for a broader audience by creating a professional TV style intro. Hell, if he didn’t do that some people would suggest that he did not use the resources he has. I’ll be watching… and will happily get a pointer or two. We can always learn from modeling behavier of successful people. Thanks for sharing Jesse. And if you ever find yourself in Oklahoma City, you have a place to hang your work gloves and a shop to use.

By the way, I have a video in the can of my 9 year old son and I scotchbriting some tins… just haven’t edited it yet. Stay tuned.

I hope this coming year brings everyone good health, prosperity and personal happiness.

VERY cool- always fun to watch a top fabricator- or tailor, for that matter.

Smart move to go back to the formula that started it all. I WILL do business with someone that stokes my interest.

Shifter- ya uh huh ok, don’t watch the next installment- hopefully Jesse can overcome the trauma of losing your interest… Where’s YOUR video?

Thanks for the freebee Jesse and Cyril!

  7. 7 hoyt Dec 31st, 2009 at 11:24 am

Shifter – take it easy. He’s not proclaiming to be a god at all but offering solid advice and teaching…for FREE. Like a Reverend…get it? The fact he used energized gospel singing is a positive approach.

thanks to the singers, Rev. James, & sponsors

I think the video is pretty good and will captivate many wannabe custom builders. I bet that Jesse metal fab better than Cyril and that Cyril sketches better than Jesse. Different talents and apparently good friends. It’s all good.

I am not a pro. Cool. Interesting. I learned something.

After all the showbiz BS, $$$, cars and hot wife, this guy is still a real bike builder. Good for him.

I could not agree with you more!

The video is very interesting and informative. If they will be shown on his website for free lots of people will go to the website and watch and that should help sell his T-shirts and parts. But I think there is more to this story somehow I just find it hard to believe he is going to teach the masses how to compete with him building and fabing bikes. I don’t know what he is thinking but I would imagine that he may be planning on giving the video away for free thru the mail if the customer pays a shipping and handleing fee of lets say 19.95 If that is what he is up to great thinking on his part I am sure he will sell or sorry “give away” tons of these info videos. Like him or not you must admit he is always thinking. He is much smarter than the average bear.

“But I think there is more to this story somehow I just find it hard to believe he is going to teach the masses how to compete with him building and fabing bikes.”

Is that some kind of joke? I don’t how many bikes you’ve built dude, but watching an expert fabricate something and doing it yourself are two very different things. Plus, when you consider everything Jesse has accomplished, he has no competition. Why is it so hard to believe he might just want to give something back to the DIY guys out there? Everybody’s so goddam suspicious of people’s motives for doing anything these days it’s pathetic.

  14. 14 ger Dec 31st, 2009 at 1:31 pm

i havent been to church for years.
think i might start going now : )

  15. 15 just my opinion Dec 31st, 2009 at 4:17 pm

BadMonkeyMW; Why is it so hard to believe he might just want to give something back to the DIY guys out there?

It could be just that, maybe he does just want to help the average guy. But if what you say is true that watching and knowing how to do things are two totally different things. Than wasting his time showing the average guy would be the joke wouldn’t it? But I watched the video and as I said found it to be both informative and interesting I think people can learn from his videos but that does not mean there is not some thing else to come in the future as far as money making. I watched it and thought man he could make a ton of money giving that video away and charging a shipping and Handling fee. By the way Jesse if you had not already thought of that YOUR WELCOME. But I would bet money he is far ahead of all of us and had been planning this for quit some time. Not that there would be anything wrong with that. This is America and we are all entitled to use our God given talents to make as much cash as possible. I personally admire his ability to keep coming up with these new ideas. As for why anyone would question his motives though. Gee lets think about it, this is the same guy that sold a ton of free Jesse T shirts to fans that believed he was busted selling dope or some stupid shit and needed to be freed from the un fair treatment of our countries laws. He is also the same guy that the Jesse James preservation society claims is not a true descendant. And remember those are not my words but those are the words of the so called real decendants of the real Jesse James. I don’t know or care if he is a decendant or not. But it is relevant in that if he is not a descendant of the real Jesse James. It means he was smart enough to know it would help him gain fame and ultimately fortune. It sure has not hurt his image. If you had bothered to read what I said you would see that I never said I don’t like him or his work. And I certainly never said that I don’t appreciate all that he has done for this motorcycle industry. And believe me I do understand he has attracted many new people to riding just as the guys at OCC have. In fact we all have Jesse to thank for the rush of TV shows and new blood that flowed into this industry years ago. But I am also smart enough to know that every coin has two sides and every story has two sides. And nothing in life is free. I don’t dislike this man in fact I would say it is just the opposite, In a way I find it very amusing that some of you guys buy into his smoke and mirror antics and I also admire how he is able to clean your pockets and leave you wanting more. As I said earlier he is much smarter than most of you guys. Hell come to think of it he may be the reincarnation of Jesse James after all he takes your money and you still think of him as a hero.
He is much smarter than the average bear.

Thanks Jesse and Cyril for the info. I’ll be watching this religiously.

AS usual Just My Opinion looks at a subject and comes across with a clear and concise look at both sides of the story. His views are realistic and to the point and I couldn’t agree more. I respect Jesse and his work. Hell,at one time i was in his shop looking to buy a bike but when it came down to it,didn’t want to spend the extra $20K over what I thought it was going to cost. I can not fault him for maybe coming up with a new way to generate income. In the mean time I will be watching his videos as I am sure that there is plenty to learn from them and I appreciate him for making them. Thanks Jesse and good luck to you in the future.
I hope all of you have a great 2010! I,personally,am looking forward to this year and hoping that the worst is behind us. One thing about Jesse is that he does not look back and he makes things with his hands. America needs to remember that we used to make things, manufacture good products but we have let the greedy among us take this away and send it overseas to be made. And what is being made overseas is nothing but junk for the most part. I have an older Craftsman floor drill press that was actually made in the USA. It is a quality machine that will last for many more years. All of us need to

  21. 21 Jim C Jan 1st, 2010 at 11:34 am

remember what it is to take pride in making something from your own hands. This is the type of thing that will help us all want to get excited about all things mechanical. We seem to have lost the pride we took in building things that were built with quality in mind. Whatever Jesse’s motivation is for doing these videos,I have to give him credit because it will help those of us who have forgotten what it is like to build something with our own 2 hands and maybe the younger among us may want ot become what is known as shop rats and take pride in that term. This will help bring America back to the forefront of all things mechanical. just my .02
Happy New year! I somehow lost what I had written at the end in the above comment. It was better than what I wrote here but you guys get the point. Again hope you all have a great year!

Off to church I go. Good Jesus here I am. Finally, at the age of 50, I have a reason to go to church. Allllaluuuuyyyaaaa Jesse.

    What is a Bike Builder?
I personal belive that Mr.Jesse James is a good exemple of it.

  25. 25 Just my opinion of your opinion Jan 4th, 2010 at 11:25 am

Great job Jesse. Whatever it takes to keep those idle hands busy, and if you can teach others…all the better. Billy Lane’s getting praise for doing something with his time in the pen, and no flaming going on in that post, yet here’s a guy who continues to excel in promoting his business, his talents, and the industry, and you get a couple jackholes who disagree and believe otherwise.

If he does sell a video…great for him. You don’t have to buy it, and I don’t think he’d give a fuck if you didn’t. If he doesn’t, then we are all the wiser for somebody sharing their knowledge. Perhaps you should take it for what it’s worth and realize that maybe he’s realized he swayed a bit from the builder fame, and he’s just trying to remind himself and everybody of his roots by sharing some of his knowledge.

Shifter, ASAhole, it’s great you guys have taken time to form an opinion about Jesse…I don’t think he’d waste that same amount of time on you!

  26. 26 fleafly Jan 4th, 2010 at 2:16 pm

If my memory serves me, wasnt this supposed to be a show on Spike?? Maybe the show fell through and Jesse said fuck it, or maybe its just a sneak peek of things to come. Either way, thanks for sharing!

  27. 27 just my opinion Jan 5th, 2010 at 4:49 pm

Just my opinion of your opinion; Dude get a grip. Nobody is bashing Jesse we are just discussing what may or may not be happening. Isn’t that what this blog is for?

  28. 28 Just my opinion of just my opinion Jan 5th, 2010 at 5:46 pm

I’ve got a grip…read carefully. I simply stated that people should take it for what it’s worth…giving back to the industry that got him here. What others are implying is that there is ulterior motive, and I’m simply stating that I think they’re wrong for that. Read twice bro…just stating my opinion of what I read from others.
