Simple. Like them. Expensive. Made where?

Think those have been around a bit from a different manufacturer so Top Shelf is probably just licensing them. Nicely made, simple concept, but you can get a full set of mid controls with master cylinder for about the same price.

I know the material and machine work on those is probably not more than $125, so somebody’s asking a bit much.

Willy Rebel. Evidently you have no clue of aluminum cost, machining and assembling. Can you make a set for me for $125? LOL

    Joey C,
Apparently YOU have no idea of the cost of machining parts. In production quantities of 25-50 sets, these can be done for less than $95. The materials on this set are about $25. Polish and chrome runs another $25-30 AFTER the machine and material cost.
Can I do these for $125? All day long as a manufacturer! Yes, there should be some markup because everybody needs to eat, but starting from the real cost and going up, there is a lot of difference…

Since you’re so knowledgable, I’m sure you realize that a $730 retail price drops to a $510 dealer price, then to a $330 distributor price, which puts these at over a $200 markup on the bottom end, or a 60%+ margin when industry standard is 35-40%. So because these start at a manufacturer’s price of over $200 markup instead of approximately a $75 markup, the end user gets nailed all the way up the line.

So, no disrespect to Top Shelf, because these are a pretty product, but I have a set of these 99% the same if they’re not Top Shelf’s, that I got from Von Dutch Kustoms when they were around, and have been sitting in a box for 5 years…so definitely not “new”.

Regardless, there is no substitute for American quality and supporting an American company, but the price is a bit high.

They are sweet looking Barry. There are always gonna be haters and complainers. As some people above show. The guys at top shelf don’t need to copy anyone they are building sweet machines that are way cooler than most. And high quality pieces. Good shit ain’t cheap and cheap shit ain’t good. Keep it up and don’t let the verbal diarrhea from some get you down. They just can’t produce that’s why they type.
