These guys want my help (media exposure) and yours (money), to fund and bring to market their invention: The Jacket Backpack. What do you think of Alomar?

Cool idea! If it works, looks good and availablefor a good price, I don’t see why it wouldn’t sell. Maybe check out Kickstarter for funding opportunities?
An idea whose time has come. I bet it sticks and evolves.
My wife said she’d stitch a sketchbook pocket inside the back of my vest. I guess in an increasingly digital society, something like packing your laptop or ipad (or ipon) with you makes sense. Personally I’d rather not have that much stuff with me.
cool idea , these guys got it , they should do great. good luck with it guys .
I think its a cool idea. I’m not sure showing the world their invention was a smart idea. Some third world country will now most likely beat them to market.
Does elbow and back armor come with the jacket for its primary role?
If so, you have room in the market already if you come up with a design that makes removal (and re-insertion) of the armor easier since that task is difficult in some gear.
Don’t sacrifice the armor’s ability to stay in the proper place when worn by making it easier to remove and re-insert. The back protector may not have to come out when worn as a backpack, saving room inside the pack.
Good luck.
Great idea doesn’t look like it had much in the way of body armor if any at all besides some sort of heavy duty nylon fabric that the jacket is comprised of. In the end choice of looking for a jacket I’d say 99% of riders are looking for something that is durable, comfortable and keep body damage to a minimum if need be.
Great idea! As my son was here with me at the shop today, he walked in while I was watching this, and said “I’d call it the Backet or Jackpack”. This out of the mouth of an 11 year old. I’ll take a nickel for every one sold with that name please…LOL.
Cool concept guys.
Go see if “THE SHARKS” tv show guys are interested in investing. One problem by the time you load all your shit into it, Laptop, Full face helmet, other crap and water bottle, you’ll need a Sherpa to carry it for you in 100 + Sturgis you’ll die carrying all that weight.
I think it is also a really cool idea, I can see the scooter and 50cc kids in France really loving this.
I would really like to see more on any inbuilt body armor though, if it has any. Some sewn in non Newtonian fabric might be a good compromise to keep it flexible enough to reconfigure as a back pack, yet still give good impact protection.
It’s a good idea and useful. Liking the computer storage. There’s people that travel distances on bikes.
If I could pile all I needed into one “thing” that was multipurpose, it’s mid-step before saddlebags or a tank-pac.
I wouldn’t worry too much about getting ripped-off by an Import. Eagle Creek® /Adventure 5® has been cranking out nylon backpacks and luggage for 30 years non-stop, through all economic conditions.
rock on…great to see innovation which fills a need.
where you put your all your stuff wile jacket is on the rider ,specially on sport bike ?
Cool idea but the reality is that it would have to be imported to keep the pricepoint reasonable.
Otherwise…….130-150.00
No sale…….
Perfect.
I’m an ATGATT type, If this had CE pads at shoulder, elbows and forearms and a backpad plus removable panels in front to expose mesh for warm weather it would be great and I’d own one. As I see the prototype there’s some storage in the jacket when worn as a jacket and more when converted. I have a couple of adventure touring type jackets that have pouches in the back and I like that. But they are winter gear that I seldom use in Louisiana.
A lot of function and range in the jacket and I would see it sell at $250, but forget the standard distribution network and sell consumer direct via web and event sales. In the traditional supply chain that gets an Icon or Joe Rocket $159 jacket to the shelves there are so many layers of markups that add no value to the product, the $40 or $50 worth of labor and materials in China or Pakistan becomes a $150 jacket by the time it meets your wallet.
Seems like a lot of work. I had a tank bag once that converted into a backpack, but it ended up being easier just to carry the tank bag because it wasn’t really worth the time to pull out the straps and zip and unzip and buckle and so forth. I’d rather just have a regular backpack so that I could access it without having to take my jacket off every time. I could see the appeal for some other situations, though. maybe going somewhere warm when you don’t want to carry your jacket around and don’t have a place to stash it, but then what do you do with the stuff you put in it when you’re ready to put it back on?
Hi there, yeah this post is genuinely fastidious and I have learned lot of things from it concerning blogging.
thanks.
