Pre-Daytona Biketoberfest. “Hear Me Roar”. A Ladies Weekend Oct 4-6, 2013

Cyril-Huze-Hear-Me-RoarYou all know that women represent a fast-growing demographic for all motorcycle manufacturers, custom shops, vendors, etc. No surprisingly, women events are popping up everywhere there is a motorcycle rally. “Hear Me Roar” is a new one, with activities created by Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona, Roar Motorcycles, Iron Horse Saloon, all businesses located in Ormond Beach, Florida to appeal to all women motorcyclists, experienced or novices. The 3 businesses partnered with the Lotus Inn & Suites in Ormond Beach to organize a weekend of charity rides, of pool parties, of “garage parties” and music from October 4 to 6, 2013.

We want to support motorcycle businesses throughout the city,” said Steve Penland, marketing director for the Iron Horse Saloon in Ormond Beach. “You can’t just rely on Bike Week and Biketoberfest. We want to give women riders a chance to attend a motorcycle rally without having to negotiate the crowds in town for Biketoberfest, the area’s second-largest annual motorcycle festival which is set to take place Oct. 17-20 this year.” Organizers hope to make the rally an annual one and expect the inaugural event to draw about 300 riders and their spouses, mainly from other parts of Florida. Shawn Abbatessa, marketing development director for the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, agrees that “Hear Me Roar” has potential and said events like this could help convince visitors to spend a few extra days in Volusia County when they make their Biketoberfest plans. Pretty soon we will have to have a weekend just for real bikers and another one for wannabe real bikers but couldn’t make the cut. Then just a weekend for Black bikers, a Hispanic biker weekend and finally a Anglo biker weekend.

The reality is this is a good peice of marketing by HD
I know that all they are trying to do is get Women comfortable
    in a male dominated arena.
It is brilliant to have women on motorcycles.
If the preferred Brand for women is the “Factory” then this becomes a massive win.

None of us know each other so there is no point in squabbling about who we are.
Or in some cases who we would like to be!!

Keep your powder dry for the politicians and the police
For they are the real foe !

I have a very small wiener, have never actually ridden a motorcycle. mostly I’m really just jealous of everyone else so the party for me is on the 14th. Hey Rodent, wanna get a beer while we’re there?

Personally I like seeing women riders. Sturgis the last few years has gotten better, in my opinion because women opinions matter,so we now get hot water showers and clean bathrooms at my usual campsite. A little civility doesn’t hurt,
