Sturgis Buffalo Chip® And Roadsmith Present Second Annual Trike Owners United Ride

trike1The Sturgis Buffalo Chip announces that its Trike Owners United Ride (T.O.U.R.) will return for a second year on Wednesday, Aug. 6 during the Sturgis Rally.

The annual all-trike event is sponsored by Roadsmith Trikes, and it includes a 50-mile self-guided ride through the scenic Black Hills leading to a custom trike show and private reception at the Buffalo Chip.

The T.O.U.R. event is free of charge and is open to all makes and models of trikes. Riders may pre-register for the event at Buffalo Chip.

“The Trike Owners United Ride allows trike riders from around the world to come together to celebrate the freedom and camaraderie shared by those who travel on three wheels,” says Rod Woodruff, President of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “We couldn’t be more excited to again welcome trikers home to the Buffalo Chip by hosting this distinctive event.”

The T.O.U.R. ride departs from Main Street in Hill City, SD and takes Trikers on a 50-mile self-guided ride through the scenic highways of the Black Hills, including Vanocker Canyon, before concluding at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. The ride culminates with a trike procession through the Buffalo Chip grounds that leads to a private reception at the Chip’s Russ Brown Events Center.

trike2“This year’s T.O.U.R. event promises to be even bigger and better than last year’s, with more trikes, more prizes and more fun,” says Roadsmith General Manager, Doug Lindholm. “We’re proud to work with our friends at the legendary Sturgis Buffalo Chip to sponsor this event for the second year in a row.” The T.O.U.R. reception will give participants a unique opportunity to spend time socializing with hundreds of fellow trikers while enjoying free hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment. The reception will also feature door prizes, a custom trike show and full access to the Buffalo Chip’s Motorcycles as Art exhibition, curated by famed motorcycle photographer, Michael Lichter.

T.O.U.R. participants who wish to take in additional Buffalo Chip events on Aug. 6, including that evening’s performance by Florida Georgia Line, may do so by purchasing campground admission passes. Passes for the Buffalo Chip’s 33rd annual Motorcycle and Music Festival are on sale now. All concerts are free with camping. So the 2-wheelers ride behind the trikes?Should be the opposite.

Never rode a trike. Have to do it some day.

Also known as the “Geezers can’t ride a real motorcycle anymore” Ride.

I would never give anyone grief over their choice of wheels. What ever you like and what ever you need to keep you in the breeze. We will all grow old, if we’re lucky.

Hey I think it’s great that bikers can be bikers forever and get together with their buddies like this. What a country!

If I was disabled and could not ride a MotorCycle then I would buy a Trike

I think when I end up in purgatory, they’ll make me ride around on one of these contraptions for 1,000 years as penance for all of my transgressions on earth.

Why stop at trikes? Why not make fun of people in wheelchairs, too?

I have some friends that ride URAL sidecars which are fun!
I am not sure it would be called a trike, even though it has 3 wheels?
One friend drove cross country and back with his Daughter, a memorable trip.

If you have values and respect for bikers, you should avoid tagging trikes as “geezer” rides. Most trike riders are dedicated, passionate bikers that either because of age or physical constraints have been given the choice to ride on three wheels, or not ride at all. Be careful because once you get to be “geezer” age you might have to make the same choice 🙂

The one thing about Bikers are over here is they have not decided to become woofters and blouses.

Political correctness makes me bilious. Lots of respect for each other is fine but none of the other self righteous narcissistic hand wringing dribble please.

Woody you need to chill and become more like Buzz

  13. 13 Woody Apr 4th, 2014 at 5:19 pm

It was sarcasm, and I’m afraid I don’t know who Buzz is. I know of folks on trikes who WERE on two wheels when they lost a leg, and there are plenty of wounded vets getting back on the road with trikes. To me it’s got nothing to do with political correctness when folks make fun of peeps on trikes.

It should be pointed out that a lot of triikers aren’t ex bikers or invalids, some of them have never ridden a bike or want to. They ride a trike for the same reason as hot rodders like their cool cars because they like some thing different.. When the popular trike of choice here is a V8 and the power to weight ratio is fantastic, to sugest that trikers are old or infirm should pop over and meet a few!
    “Ride free on three”

I owned and ridden or more correctly driven a Harley Servi-car and BMWwsidecar. Fun yes, but the only similarity to 2 wheeled motorcycle is the method of shifting. Everything else is unique to the 3 wheeler.

James just another crazy Kiwi, you are on the money. Ridiculing trike riders is not like laughing at the wheelchair bound. The trike riders have a choice to sit there. But both are essentially chairs on wheels.

I like trikes, but that doesn’t mean I’ll stand anywhere the things.

  17. 17 James just another Crazy Kiwi Apr 5th, 2014 at 5:03 pm

Sorry Woody sometimes sarcasm is hard to pick up in the written word.

Buzz is from “Toy Story” as is Woody. Guess You have not heard of him, or are you being sarcastic again ?…lol

  18. 18 Woody Apr 6th, 2014 at 1:09 pm

@ James. Ah, didn’t think of that Woody and Buzz connection for some reason. I usually get more “wood pecker” jokes 🙂 its all good, I just have to wonder sometimes when people pick on folks with trikes. Sometimes it’s like picking on someone with a handicap parking sticker, just doesn’t seem right. I do know people who would much rather be on two wheels but its all they can do to keep “riding” using a trike. Someday when I can’t hold up my Valkyrie, I might trke it so I don’t have to switch to a moped 🙂

I agree, besides my sister has a trike and she used to beat me up as a kid, wouldn’t want it to start again..lol (she was much older and bigger then)
