Viking Concept V-Twin By Fisker Unveiled

Viking1Viking2Viking3Yesterday, at the “Top Marques Brands” show in Monaco, a Danish custom motorcycle manufacturing company that I didn’t know and called Lauge Jensen, unveiled the Viking Concept bike featured here. It is a collaboration between industrialist  Anders Kirk Johansen (whose family invented LEGO™)  and designer Henrik Fisker who has been a chief designer both at BMW and Aston Martin. What is so special about the Viking? Nothing that I found out, except that this model powered by an S&S engine to reach a maximum speed of 130 mph+ is  the first motorcycle of its type to comply with new, much more stringent Euro IV emissions regulations that come into effect in 2016, and this without losing performance nor the sexy V-Twin sound. So, a great advertising banner in the European Union for S&S Cycle. The display of the Viking at the Monaco show is to evaluate interest and demand, contemplating the possibility of going into mass production. Lauge Jensen.

Kind of hard to find anything negative to say about this one . Only question being ; Will it be priced to sell and will it sell if it is . Hmmmn . Maybe ole Henrik [ Fisker ] does still have a few positive tricks up his sleeve after all . In fact . Maybe H-D or Victory/Indian should consider hiring ole Henrik or at least bringing him on as a design consultant .

From what I can see the bike is a good design and looks like a complete production concept cycle. Not just a collection of parts that fit or meet the projects budget limit.

I can’t warm to the zipper in the seat. It’s all a bit too Freudian for me, or like a visit to a Danish leather “biker” bar. I imagine waterproof zippers are available, if not, how do you stop water leaking through to the battery and electrics?

    I wish them well.

It seems like it has a “fluid” look where the gas tank conforms to the seat and the seat to the rear fender. I have never been a fan of solid mag wheels ever since I rode from Sioux Falls to Rapid City in sustained winds of 60+ MPH. I actually got off the bike (2001 fatboy a buddy let me ride while my sled was tore down) and walked sideways for a while. I suppose everybody has their preference on front ends too. I could never wrap my mind around the inverted front end, not that I could really tell the difference between a wide glide or FL front end, it just seems “too meaty” “too high” up on the front end for me. Other than my own taste’s and/or lack thereof….I find this scooter to be pleasing to the eye and imagine it rides pretty nice as well!

As far as the zipper on the seat….WTF?
