Not having to chase around for extended brake lines, an extended clutch cable and appropriate wiring cuts down significantly on installation labor costs whether fitted in a shop or a home garage. I got a set of Burly 16″ gorilla apes last year along with the cable kit and it made the install a lot easier. I did opt for Harley’s cable extensions because I thought it would be easier but the control end connector would not fit into the holes on the handlebars so I still ended up chopping and soldering the wires.
I went with the 18″ wire/cable kit since I was keeping my 4.5″ risers and it worked out great. Burly measures their cable kits against a 2″ riser so if you are buying, keep that in mind.
All they need to do is add the transmission cover gasket, derby gasket and urethane bushings and their kit would be a one stop shop for all things apes.
