Since 2005, David has created a special piece for Sturgis every year. He continues that tradition this year with “Bikini Bike Wash”. His latest masterpiece features bike builder Matt Olsen and his wife Brittney. Matt is astride his ’39 Knucklehead bobber “Dottie” (now owned by Pat Simmons and Cris Sommer-Simmons) Bikini Bike Washes are a fixture at rally time, and the unmistakeable Black Hills backdrop stamps this as a true Sturgis scene from days gone by.
Uhl’s Studio is taking orders for David’s hand-signed, numbered canvas giclee prints. Beautifully framed with a commemorative plaque, each comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Matching numbers are available for those who want to add this to their existing Sturgis Commemorative pieces.
Edition numbers will be assigned as orders are taken, so you are encouraged to act quickly. Similar to past Sturgis pieces, the edition’s special Rally prices are available only through the end of this year’s rally (August 10, 2014).
Specifics: “Regular” – image size approx 28 x 20, framed price $895. “Jumbo” – image size approx 42 x 30, framed price $2,250. Shipping is included within the contiguous 48 United States**
David Uhl will exhibit his gallery at the Gold Dust Casino in Deadwood again this year during the rally (from July 31st-August 10th). Kristy Swanson, David’s model for “The Huntress”, will be joining him at the Gold Dust on Sunday August 3 and again on Monday August 4. Orders by calling National Sales Manager Greg Rhodes 303-913-4840.
Nice. But don’t understand the painting name. “Bike Wash”? The main scene is not a bike wash?!?
Like.
Where her outfit comes from? Circus, cheerleader?
Very nice, but a reference to Sturgis is missing in this painting.
Didn’t recognize at all Matt Olsen. I don’t know her, so can’t judge.
Not exactly a BIKINI bike wash. But still a beautiful painting.
Would have liked the Knuckle to be seen in full, not with cut wheels.
Hey, guys. Who cares about the name of the painting. It’s an excellent one, as always.
Ya’ll are missing the forest for the trees, Mr. Uhl demonstrating mastery of his craft. Seems like you could reach out and touch that bike. Excellent use of lighting and depth, very well done.
Vice nice !!!
To the clueless,
Dave is all about expressing an image of a simpler time.
His visions are of a time without the technological trappings of contemporary biker-dome.
When a rider’s reliance was principally on him or her self.
When participating in Motorcycling did require technical skill, self confidence, and a spirit of adventure that wasn’t instigated by the latest TV reality drama.
And yes Matt is a fitting subject who’s life and efforts translate well back into that era.
I never tire of looking at Dave’s paintings.
They take me right back to a time when i would sit on my fat tired Schwinn bike and watch the older guys kick-start their WR foot clutch-had-shift bobbers and dream of joining in the adventure.
Well done Dave (as usual).

As always David …Most outstanding!
It’s a great painting and like many of his paintings makes me wish I could be transported back to those times.
My understanding is Mr Uhl researches his subjects, so you can be sure that the bathing costumes and all of the detail is true to the times.
Great Stuff
I thank you gents above that have the time to see depth of what I am trying to portray. Appreciate the post Mr Huze.
You guys never fail to amaze me (darry, hamilton, greeko). Just look at it. A shot of a guy on a ’39 MC (with another old one in the background) against a 40’s era gas station and he’s wearing a white T-shirt (w/cigarettes in the sleeve) and rolled up jean. IOW: it’s a 50’s era picture thus she (and the girl behind) is wearing a 50’s era bikini and the girl in the background is WASHING a bike.
Another great painting Mr. Uhl, congratulations.
David Uhl is absolutley the Rembrandt of two wheel art.
