Sorry to ruin your day. You are looking at the custom bagger being built by Kody McNew from Voodoo Bikeworks for the TV reality show Biker Battleground Phoenix. How somebody can do this to a motorcycle is beyond my understanding. Exactly what is wrong with the excesses of the Bagger craze. Remember my yearly 2014 predictions where I wrote that extreme custom baggers would reach very soon the peak of non-sense and bad taste before builders and owners come back to more reasonable riding machines.
The good news is, that thanks to a motorcycle reality show where a builder is going to expose the “Custom Bagger Ridicule” to a large audience, we reached this peak. Now, Bagger owners and builders are going to want again Baggers looking like real life motorcycles, not like props for horror movies. Soon will be gone the very tall front wheels (26” seems to me the maximum acceptable), the bodyworks inspired by toys or army tanks and paint jobs more flashy than Christmas trees. What a relief…
Transformers,..more than meets the eye ! Lol
This is a decepticon ! Lol
WTF ??????
A two wheeled motorhome? It’s sad when a bike doesn’t even look good to the people that it should, bikers.
Or…..the public will love it just like the garbage theme bikes from OCC and fuel the trend for another ten years….I think you may be underestimating the level of bad taste the average person has.
I just threw up looking at it.
OMG. And Yaffe claims and brags to have created this custom bagger trend.
And shitty bagger magazines are going to put this on their covers. Instant publisher death.
Halloween on wheels.
Baddest bagger ever. Literally.
No, not my kind of bike either, but if there’s a market for it then you can’t blame the builders for meeting that demand.
Sure, these bikes may have saddlebags but they’re not baggers…they are choppers with way too much sh!t on them.
I’m pretty tired of baggers overall and these hideous builds, big 26 and 30 inch tires and reality shows just make it worse. Baggers are for touring. As a canvas for custom work? What looks good about nixes hanging off the tail of a bike?
It hurts just looking at it.
Ugh ! Fugly , Hideous and Wretched Excess taken to the extreme . And here I thought those DonkCycles were as bad as it could get . Hopefully as the text states .. this is as far as it goes . Any further and I may have to take up knitting !
Can’t stop looking, just like a bad wreck. Puke.
What’s wrong with these bagger builders? Disgusting.
History teaches us that progress occurs when the design envelope is pushed. This certainly is pushing that envelope from both a design and fabrication perspective. I could never afford to buy it, nor would I if I did have a pickup full of disposable income, but this is two-wheeled art and the fact that it can be ridden really should be admired from the perspective of wild creativity IMHO. And don’t forget that those ‘horrible’ OCC bikes had attracted tens of thousands of people in every country to see motorcycles in a new light, whether or not they make Rodent spew his guts or not. 🙂
PUKE
Is this the next Goldwing? 😉
Fiberglass works fine on jet tubs and surfboards . What’s next ?
Looks like that “air cooled” motor should receive plenty of air flow…..right?????? Just sayin’ !
Over & Out,
Jeff
Well said, Doc. I agree fully. Is this particular bike for me? No, but then again it isn’t supposed to be. The builder is expressing his creativity much like an auto makers creates a concept car. I think it creates interest for the specific manufacturer and paints that manufacturer as different from his competitors. With Voodoo Bikeworks, they’re pushing the boundaries and good on them for doing so, especially where a competition is concerned. Would I ever buy a bike from Ron Finch? No, but then again I know him as an artist which is the whole point to begin with. The bike above may be over the top, but it makes me interested in what Voodoo is up to, which is the whole point as well.
There is subjective art and then there is the point where its not art but simply bad design. There is nothing redeeimg about a 350 HP engine attached to a 30 inch slab of billet. There is no elevation in style here ,its the same 1992 ground effect mini truckin look that people got over when they stopped making pulsars and aztecks. This is what is wrong with society when everyone is willing to give an A for effort .not to mention the back end has nothing to do with the front .It’s a 1983 bad movie complete with actual jet sounds .IMO.
Quick ,.someone harpoon it before it breeds!
It isn’t done yet, so I’ll refrain from piling on. I doubt that anyone is really going to think this is the height of bagger styling. Kody’s shop built a bike that took the top spot at a Sturgis show last year, but not everyone loved the styling, and it’s not the type of bike that generates a lot of cover articles.
Lumping VooDoos bikes together with all the other bagger builders is a little like saying Jesse James is no different than OCC, because they both build choppers. Some of you guys get a little hysterical at times.
Where does the left leg go?
This might just go to prove there is a point where too much is just too much.
An air cooled motor needs air flow. It should be interesting to see how it is accomplished on this build unless this bike is only for show and not go.
Mike. I don’t think that OCC did worse than Voodoo BikeWorks with this horror.
Mike Sundell pretty much nails it. I hate baggers but i find this bike interesting. theres a lot going on there. Its a one off custom which is not intended to appear normal or be useful. its intent is to stand out which it does. its as ugly and as appealing as the new roadglide which most of you will all hail as the most beautiful harley ever produced. It probably doesnt help this bikes cause that its built by one of the most douchiest builders ever depicting on a build show either. But hey that makes good tv i guess?
Anybody notice Yaffe’s small wide wheel? Might just be the beginning of the end for the BigWheel cartoon bike trend. I hope he pulls it off. Only Nixon could go to China.
It all went too far about a year ago!
Steve Carr
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
It appears that the builder got his inspiration from the victory vision.
yaffe’s small wide wheel? that makes zero sense for a motorcycle.
all of these trends are for artists & builders that need to work harder to get to the next level of imagination and build execution with the basics of bikes. The trends are not helping them in that regard.
Excessive rake – a crutch for not being able to excel at the basics of design and building
Excessive stretch – a crutch
Excessive wide rear wheel – a crutch
Excessive tall front wheel – a crutch
etc.
This banter applies to any design & art. Mother Nature illustrates an inherent sense of balance yet complimentary asymmetry (tough to do). Proportion is key too, which contributes directly to that difficult goal of balance. i.e. referring to the picture of a face of a woman next to a picture of the same woman with her face made to be identical from side-to-side. The manipulated photo looks unattractive.
Ugly yes, not my style but it’s a show bike built to get trailered around and be extream as possible. Take it for what it is supposed to be a eye cetching show bike. I do know a little about this bike the power train is awsome and not air cooled.
Lot’s of work went into making this thing ugly. Too much over the top.
Not my or anyone I know style! This arrogant kid will think it is the greatest thing since the V-Twin was invented. This takes ugly to the highest level, and it is years past time to return to sanity.
Baggers have a great usefulness and I ride mine all the time. This monstrosity is not ride able, useful, this thing looks more like a Japanese Sportbike some one designed just before going back to fifth grade PE. This kid will not have a business if he continues making monstrosities like this. Yess Cyril we have gone past the point and need to return to useful baggers what they were designed for originally comfortable long distant rides and room for clothes, and stuff.
Ahh that’s more like it. This is the stuff I like to see
But in the end the show and the bike will make him famous nobody wil remember the bike that won baddest bagger but they will know who voodoo baggers is and he will sell tons of Tee shirts and get rich
if you have been watching the show you would probably agree this design reflects this kids attitude…
It looks like a giant purple frog tried to swallow a Penny-farthing
See what happens when you take the wrong coloured pill in the morning……..
Funny I took the same pill, is that why it looks good???
Eric. Nobody gets rich selling tee-shirts. And anyway, nobody is going to buy tee-shirts as ugly as his bike.
Cyril Huze being one of the most influential persons in the custom motorcycle industry, after such a publicationy, I think Kody Mc New’s career is over.
Clownish and just plain ugly,
The only thing worse than douche bags on TV is a douche bag at home not doing anything and yet have such strong opinions of what others do.
Cyril, yours is a very good and informative blog but you should stop giving credence to that sort of shit…
I meant that SORT of shite; bad emotions got the better of me 🙂 !
Bruhahahaha!
Love the “wing” on the back ! Form meets function . Rumor is , 1 cycle is already working on a knock off version ………………………………;-)
I agree with Kroeter, baggers seem to be the thing right now.
Jermey was once told by Dave perewitz not everybody can by my bike but everybody can by a tee shirt were do you think occ made there money tee shirts .
who wants to ride their bike all day and then spend all night cleaning it and God forbid you chip the $4000 paint job
What is happening to this end of the motorcycling world?
Do we really need this type of crap on TV. What barn will
they find these piles in 20 years? You can bet they won’t
be worth near what they spent to build it. The only pieces
worth rebuilding will be the engine and driveline and toss
the rest.
If this is VOODOO’s bike why does sign say Misfits on the wall? Is this show possibly designed to promote Shope’s new Indian add ons?
WCC, OCC, Chopper Inc. etc. all made a ton of money selling tees. As for the bike, once we got to the current state of cartoon big wheel baggers does it really matter what level an individual one has sunk to? This too, will pass. ☺
Whatever this is, it’s under construction so I wouldn’t pass judgement yet. What is truly pathetic is all you whiners bellyaching about what anyone chooses to build. How about you mind your own business. Never thought bikers would turn into such pussies.
I agree with Cyril that somewhere, somehow, this Big Wheel thing has got to stop !!!
Let me make this perfectly clear I am NOT a fan of this bike !!!!
It’s a caricature of a bagger !!! And a bad one at that (Just my opinion)
Now, it is a piece of art or expanding the boundaries/pushing the envelope
Beats me ?? And as someone stated above, even if I had all of Bill Gates’s money, I would not buy it !
But does that mean somebody else won’t ?
Hey Kody, is there a buyer for this thing or not ???
As I always say, “One man’s dessert is another man’s garbage”
If there is a buyer Kudos to him/her, but I would not buy it
Just one guy’s (and apparently a lot of other people’s) opinion
Best thing about this trend is the surplus of efi motors and 6 speed trans that will wind up for sale while everything else goes to the dump.
Knda scary lookin’…Id like to see it run when its done…if it can…
I’ve been recovering from surgery and watched the first few episodes of the show form bed. While I used to think Paul Sr. was a tool, these guys egos and total lack of self awareness make him look like father of the year.
Assuming there is any reality to the show, this Cody guy put his painter on a short deadline due to his poor planning and blames him for not having time to paint pinups on the bike and detests the eyes he painted. Then when the bike owner shows up he claims he told the painter to do the eyes! Worse yet throughout the show he claims missing the original deadline is not his fault and blames everyone else around him. Sorry, as the business owner he need to step up and take accountability and stop passin blame around.
The guy working out of his garage actually building a bike, while maybe a little too laid back, is the one I would root for to win this bogus contest.
How about a program with women bike builders (not the children of a famous daddy bike builder) who started their own business, where the women actually design and build their own bikes. I’d like to see something different for a change.
What the hell is going on in Phoenix? Yuck!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AKIRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The longer I look at it, the more it looks like mating bullfrogs to me.
What ever happened to clean, comfortable touring bikes. You know the ones that served a purpose, of simply riding in the wind over a long distance.
I have nothing against art, (and that is about what these bikes are, like it or not we have to give them that). But art is not what I want to ride 400 miles to Sturgis, or to simply take a roadtrip.
Yeah, I’m a traditional type of guy, I like my bikes that way, and yes I do some customizing to them. But please, please keep them functional.
The bike is finished is run by a turbine eng that’s why it has full body kit looks good all finished
You know, it seems that every time someone comes up with something futuristic that breaks from tradition and is different there’s a big backlash. Arlen Ness himself a famous bike builder was criticized for designing and building the Victory Vision. Big, bulky, space aged, you name it they called it but the bike was very comfortable and well built. The remarks were very similar to these that I see below. Yet in Southern California they call it the Vision the Rolls-Royce of motorcycles. It takes a forward thinking type of designer to build something such as this. I really don’t know this company other than what I see on biker battleground. I believe it’s a shame to criticize someone’s dream and creativity. I commend Voodoo Bikeworks on their extraordinary vision. I mean really know bagger is a small bike.
the best comment was the thing looks like a victory vision knock off ,lol a jet turbine has no place on a bagger to start with . it is not a funtional design. its laughable with its circus clown wheel up front. build a bagger lose all the dam skulls in the paint ant make a beautifl bike thats funtional
Just saw this on TV. What a turd.
