Harley-Davidson Rewards Visa Card. Worth It?

H-D-Visa-CardYou asked me. So, I list below the features offered by the Harley-Davidson Genuine Rewards Visa Card and let you decide if it’s the right card for you. You get points for each dollar you spend with your card. This Visa (V) card is especially for Harley-Davidson (HOG) fans, as you will earn additional points for each H-D purchase you make with your card, as well as on restaurant, gas, lodging and bar purchases, which is a good deal if you like biking around often.

There is no pre-set spending limit on this card, and it will be decided once you apply for this card and are approved. No annual fee, if you are eligible for the Harley-Davidson Signature card. Otherwise, you will be considered for the Harley-Davidson High Performance Visa card, which comes with no annual fee (or $29), based on your credit score when you open your account. Receive a $10 Harley Chrome cash certificate when you are accepted for this card. This $10 cash certificate is valid for up to 180 days.

Earn 3 points for each dollar you spend at Harley-Davidson dealerships. You will earn three times as many points when making Harley-Davidson purchases. 2,500 points can be redeemed for $25 in Harley Chrome Cash. Earn 2 points for every dollar spent at gas stations, restaurants, lodging and bars. You’ll earn double points for each dollar you spend on purchases made in these categories, which will save you a lot of money when you’re on the road biking. Earn 1 point for each dollar you spend on all your other purchases. Every dollar you spend on your card will give you points, regardless of what you’re purchasing. You can apply at H-D Visa Card Offer.

Not a good deal. At best you get 3% back if you buy from Harley, and only 1-2% from other merchants. Can only spend points at Harley. Many credit cards give you actual cash back of up to 5%. Do your homework. Easy to find good deals on the web that fit your spending pattern.

Sounds good until you go to redeem. Call HD, find out how much you have and ask for checks. $25.00 minimum and increments of $25.00. Wait 2 to 3 weeks. Redeem only at HD dealer. No change for purchases less then the amount.
Got Amazon Visa. Redeem from Amazon on check out for any amount on any purchase and there are plenty HD parts and accessories on Amazon, some are discounted from dealers.

The other “perk” is this: Every dollar you spend also gives you 1 entry into winning a motorcycle each month. Every month is a different motorcycle, and the entries are only good for the month they are earned (so if you spend $25 in July, you have 25 entries to win the July motorcycle).
