Harley-Davidson is recalling more than 105,000 motorcycles from the 2014 model year because their clutches may fail, causing stopped bikes to creep forward and potentially crash. The company knows of 19 low-speed tip-over crashes tied to the problem, with three minor injuries reported.
Bikes named in that recall include the Electra Glide Ultra Classic and the CVO Road King. Harley-Davidson says dealers will rebuild affected clutch master cylinders for free.
The Milwaukee company also is recalling 1,384 motorcycles made earlier this year to test for possible fuel tank leaks. The models are the 2015 Street XG500 and XG750. Dealers also will test fuel tanks subject to that recall and replace them for free if any leak from under their caps. No injuries, accidents or fires have been tied to that problem.

My hydraulic clutch malfunctioned once at a stop sign, car coming from the left , not a fun deal. Only time, 3 hyd. clutches later, all good.
Never heard of so many recalls on a single model year. Fault of hired temp workers? Not motivated?

I don’t think temp workers screwing in a screw, are the cause of fundamental engineering faults. But good try.

Its simply a case of the more complex the machines become [ be they cars , bikes etc ] .. and the more parts are being outsourced from 3rd World countries … the more often Murphy’s Law will come into effect . Which is to say .. be it cars or bikes and no matter who’s building them …
Get used to it . Its the new norm of the 2010’s . The Recall Pandemic 😉
It’s just the way Harley is now doing research & development using its retail customers and dealers for testing.
It would be nice to hear why it is happening and what they are doing about it.
Soon they will have to drop their prices as high quality is not usually associated with so many recalls.
The Rushmore bikes must be costing and affecting their bottom line.
And their reputation.
An explanation would be just plain old fashioned good manners.

As a Victory rider I say props to the MoCo for doing this voluntarily! One of the Vics I ride has a POS two piece front fender prone to failure that Polaris is calling a “wear and tear item” and therefore not a recall item. Seriously. Fenders are wear and tear? I love my bikes and cover my own ass, but this is the world we’re in now. A hyper competitive marketplace means shit gets put into production as fast as possible. Dare I say more is being rushed, Rushmore if you will, Lol, I kill me. Anyway, yes it sucks, but yes the MoCo is doing the right thing. If we’re going to blame we should also have the balls to give credit.
Anybody out there remember a mouse- trap? Better known as a “Clutch Spring Buster” or something like that. They were a nightmare to adjust, but when they were adjusted right they were smooth as butter which was not very often. There was never a recall, they just stole the mouse- trap-eliminator from the after-market and quit making the damn thing.

Victory changed the hardware/fasteners on the front fender to address the issue. I personally have had several covered under manufacturer warranty (been a while…not seeing the issue anymore) and also under goodwill when the bike was out of warranty. I have not seen the problem on any Vision after 2011/12.
It’s great that HD is addressing the issue quickly!
