    Yikes! That looks HUGE!
How about a new category: “Open air vehicle”?
Sorry, none of these three wheeler’s seem like “bikes” to me…

A Trike ain’t a bike. It has all the disadvantages of a automobile and a motorcycle. If you can’t ride two wheels get a small four wheel convertible.

    Very nice.

Glad Rodent doesn’t make the rules

    Hey Doc
I owned and rode many miles on a BMW w Steib sidecar and a Harley Serv-car, so I can speak with some expertise on the matter. You ever owned either?

“A Trike ain’t a bike.” ….words of wisdom, Mr. Rodent.

I just don’t get these trike contraptions. You might as well just buy a convertible car. If you’re too old, infirm, or scared to ride a real motorcycle with two wheels, then just give it up already and find a new hobby.

M & R – A trike most certainly is a bike . And if you were in a situation where riding a Two Wheel bike was impossible [ accident /disabled vet / elderly but still competent / amputee etc ] … you’d be very grateful for the existence of this or any other three wheeled motorcycle /bike as well as the acceptance from other two wheeled ‘ bike ‘ riders along the way . And yeah … I’ve got the sidecar thing going on .. ridden a Servicar .. which is a trike by any other name .. not to mention having more than a few Sidehacks in my family going all the way back to 1926 !

In conclusion .. and to borrow a phrase .. if you both don’t get it .. you never will … till you’re in the position to need/want one that is . At which point it may be too late I’m afraid 😉

Someone here needs to get a life .. never mind ” find a new hobby ” Or have you [ Mike ] not been made aware that Motorcycling for most of us is a Lifestyle for Life … not a ‘ hobby ‘ ?

Rodent is very astute . A trike is not a bike. We should defer to Rodent’s expertise of three wheelers. However I did build a cover bike in my garage, for American Iron. Bet I got you there. I’ll just keep my Rushmore trike, thank you very much. Seriously though, my lady likes the small convertible idea and wonders if you suggest an SL or maybe one of the new Corvetts.

Rodent is very astute. A trike is not a bike. We will defer to your expertise on three wheelers. However I did build a national magazine cover bike in my garage. Bet I got you there. My wife did like the idea of a small convertible. Do you suggest the SL or maybe a new Corvette. Thought we were going to have to buy the one on display at Sturgis. Oh well, I’ll just keep my Rushmore trike.

You all broke my heart. When I was a wee biker I rode a TRI CYCLE. Then I took our washing machine engine and put it on the TRI CYCLE and road around with dirty cloths and a motor [ Tri ] cycle.

Hopefully all you nay sayers will get old as those who ride three wheelers.

Whats the cutoff date for Gezzers to stop riding ?

Instead of worrying about whether or not people should make/buy trikes, maybe we could just celebrate that to make this trike, a pair of ugly stock saddlebags ended up in a pile somewhere? Now to find some wheels that go with the look of the bike. 😉

  14. 14 doc Oct 21st, 2014 at 6:43 pm

Its good to have someone with three wheeler expertise and to know a trike isn’t a bike. My wife really like the small convertible suggestion. She can’t decide between an SL or one of thenew Corvettes. Me, I’ll just keep geezering along on the rushmore trike.

The guy or lady who is riding a trike is just as passionate as us riding 2 wheels. Some riders feel more comfy on 3 wheels while others are aging 2 wheel riders who need 3. Each rider has feelings and I’m not to judge what they ride. There’s many riders who have served our country in the US armed services who still wants to ride yet needs 3 wheels. I shall allow him or her their freedom weather it be 2 or 3 wheels and style.

Trikes bring sales and revenue to the motorcycle industry…trikes start as 2-wheeled machines, or do some of you need that concept explained as well?

I’d love to own that Indian Trike, are you kidding me ? I’ve rode 2 dozen of the New Chiefs, on 9 Demo Days, from 8/13 to 8/14, nice bike. Speaking of the Easy Rider bikes, I was riding a 50 Panhead, much like the Billy Bike, except mine was black, in the summer of 1969, before the movie came out that fall. I was 19 that summer, rode to my 1st Laconia, this past June, went to MY 46th Laconia Bike Week. I had a good thing going with the largest H-D Dealer in NH, (Manchester) back then, I bought his personal sidecar for my Pan, bought & sold a dozen Servi-cars ($200./$300.) trade-in’s from Manchester PD. I go to a lot of Auctions today, ole flathead 45’s go for $10/$15 K, it blows my mind, if I only coulda, shoulda, woulda, if I only knew, a lot can happen in 45 years. Just look at the Captain America bike, I thought it was buried with Jimmy Hoffa !

I first saw the Chieftain Trike at the V-twin Expo last year & did a video interview on it .
I thought it was a outstanding effort to take a brand new (at the time) model of motorcycle
& turn it into a trike. I thought it was very classy & functional.
now they’ve gone & did it again with a Roadmaster and my opinion, has NOT changed one iota.
I’m not here to argue the merits of cycle vs trike but Mike Tomas & others make a very good point.
NONE of us are getting any younger & as we get older, trikes become 1 of various options.
I’m not a bog fan of most trikes, but I’d sure be proud to own this one & ride the hell out it !!!

As big as a Buick Roadmaster, not always a bad thing.

To the people who haven’t rode a trike I beg to differ with you. I love to ride but because of a motorcycle accident I lost my left leg. A trike is the only option for me to ride. In our organization we also have people who have had double hip replacements, military injuries, and believe it or not people who are paraplegics riding. This shows that all people can ride motorcycles in any form if they desire. Sooo, get off your scum based idea’s and start opening your eyes. I feel sorry for the people who agree with RODENT,DOC, and whom ever would like to contest this subject…..

    Respectfully,

There is a difference between opinion and judgment.

If you just didn’t like the trike that would be cool but when you come with an attitude that the trike is not part of the bike culture than you are judging the rider.

You can come up with a few negative reasons why a person would choose a trike when their are many negative reasons to choose a two wheeler.

Some get them to be more of a man, or get the ladies or even to come off as cool or tough.

I am 51 and grew up around bikers and seen a lot, this is back when hardly any women rode and racism was the bike game of the day.

Not everyone is getting a bike to get to a stop light and look around as if “hey everybody look at me!!!”

Or get a Bike as to walk into a restaurant or Starbucks and walk around as if he was invincible.

Or get a bike to wear a patch…some of us know a bike can’t help you in a fist fight or make your dick bigger or make you a better lover, or even a better human being.

Some people aren’t searching for themselves or trying to be something they are not and some have are old enough to know that good or bad people ride a two wheeler or four wheeler or eighteen wheeler or in this case a three wheeler.

I am looking to get a three wheeler for long distance riding, I have a woman and i have enough friends and I am not looking for a club of any kind, and could care less what a judgmental two wheeler has to say, as I probably am not trying to be like them anyway, I’m good with being me.

We are all growing up in this journey called life, let us allow people to grow at their individual pace and treat one another with the respect we would like presented to us especially in a first on the road meet.

Peace and ride safe on any and all wheels.

A trike is a motorcycle and as a disabled Veteran, that is the only way I could ride again. Y’all got a problem with trikes. Look back at history how they came a bout.
