Victory Motorcycles and Helping with Horsepower™ Engage At-Risk Youth to Set Land Speed Record

VIC-Bonneville1VIC-Bonneville2VIC-Bonneville3Records were broken and memories were made. Victory Motorcycles and Pine Bush High School’s Starz Program Helping With Horsepower™ sets a new national land speed record while providing a learning experience for at-risk youths. Laura Klock of Klock Werks Kustom Cycles developed the Helping with Horsepower™ Bike Rebuild Program to use a motorcycle as a tool to keep kids in school; teaching life lessons such as teamwork, self-confidence and problem solving and, in this case, to go fast! Lloyd Greer of Lloyd’z Motorworks partnered with Victory to implement Laura’s curriculum and lead the at-risk youth, hands-on, as they built a Victory Hammer motorcycle to set national records on the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats.

VIC-Bonneville4VIC-Bonneville5The Freedom 106 powered Victory was modified with a Procharger B-1 Supercharger and special tuning to deliver more than 200 HP, capable of achieving the 2014 AMA Bonneville National M-BG/2000 Record of 173.321 MPH. “We are proud to be part of this special program.” said Steve Menneto, VP Motorcycles for Polaris. “Using Victory motorcycles to teach our youth the value of hard work and achieving goals is a terrific way to contribute to the future.”

Certainly wasn’t anything like this back when I was in school (and the dinosaurs roamed the land). I probably would’ve had a much better attendance record – heck, I might have even graduated with the rest of my class!
