Nice, classic, pricey
Why can’t they make an original boot that is about 8 1/2 inches,they are either too tall or too short.
Amazon sent me their top of the line engineer boots from four mfgrs: Chippewa, Frye, L.L. Bean, and Red Wing, if I would write reviews on each and I could return any that I didn’t like. No charge.
Walked on miles of carpet with each boot. All but Chippewa had too few buckle-holes in the strap. See where Chippewa’s have a buckle hole right in the middle of the instep of the strap? None of the other mfgrs. had enough. It was necessary to cinch the boot straps up to the very last hole…. but it still allowed my heel to lift. Then what? That’s right…. it wore the wool-nap off a new pair $10.50 Wigwam 625 socks!
The problem with the release of their tan 1901M50, is that it still has the 2” heel that worked well in 1938, securing a ladder rung when hopping on south-bound rail-cars, but it’s not the heel for modern motorcycling. No my friends, Chippewa capitulated with Sons of Anarchy and replaced the 2” “roping’ “ heel with a 1” or 1-1/4” street heel. See for yourself in the post below. I believe the S of A, stock # for the low-heeled tan is 1901M15.
Hang-tough, because Chippewa will most probably add a low-heel model. The other three mfgrs. have 1” or 1-1/4” heels, and the 2” heels sort of dress you up with no where to go, IYKWIM.

Wesco Boot has various lengths of uppers, and a 1″ or 1-12″ heel…… but every single pair of Wesco engineer boot has mud-tracking lug soles.
We’d ask Wesco why that is, and maybe they will tell us here.
do they make ’em in size 16 for big galoots?

Santa Rosa engineer boots ruled back in the day. Chippewa a close second.
