This is cool. Even cooler if we could order a new FL with this engine installed at the factory so we didn’t have to pay twice for the motor and labor. But still cool.

BobS – Amen to that ! Why in the name of all things common sense the factory doesn’t offer this as an option on every Big Twin .. from the factory is beyond all logic and comprehension . Oh …. but wait … I get it .. more profit seeing as how they can charge you twice for the motor . Once in stock configuration … and once for this … with another pocket full of dollars charging you for the installation . Truly …. the world … is going stark raving mad . Not because companies are pulling stunts like this … but because customers are foolish enough to fall and pay for stunts such as this . Discernment , Logic and Common Sense gradually going the way of the DoDo ..

the S&S 124in has far superior numbers to this if you want to bolt in HP & Torque…not to mention their new 143 that just released..if Im buying a motor twice I surely wouldn’t be using the HD 2nd one for all out guts & go fast…C`mon HD..

This is the 49 state street legal version that’s why the numbers are so conservative. You got to compare apples to apples. HD’s 120R will put up numbers close to the S&S 124″ for much less cost. Best bang for the buck. I’m sure this thing will end up stock on a CVO or something down the road.

Technically, it hasn’t actually been approved yet..says certification pending…but Im sure that will come..2nd, insiders tell me theyre (HD) having issues with pistons & lower end bearings…so besides not putting up the numbers factored in with the potential hardware issues..I dont think so…give me the S&S every day…more dough ? yes..going to run like a scalded dog every day, yes..just sayin..

Two things I looked for and didn’t see. Trued and welded crank and gear driven cams. No way I would pay this kind of money and not get those two things.

On the other hand; they are on the right track and, has been mentioned, it would be great if this was an option. If the dealer pulled the stock motor, kept it, and replaced it with one of these before the buyer took ownership; some kind of good deal should be happening. Say; total cost of this option being $3k or something like that.

Yes it’s bad ass for a factory motor …
But, both JIMS and S & S do it better !!!

fuel motos 107 kit crushes hd numbers at half the cost!!!

  11. 11 Reinhardt's Motorcycles May 6th, 2015 at 5:24 am

Well this is funny HD is making this engine going to be approved by EPA but the Germans got the 120R approved by the Mad German TÜV and they are as crazy as the CA EPA Board. What’s up with that. 2nd what’s I cost to do all this with exhaust, airbox, installation & ECM TUNER. Around $10000.00 that crazy!!! Now for about half you can make you engine just as much fun and powerful with parts and you don’t have a extra engine sitting under your coffee table that cost you 10k. Think before you buy and take your wife on a $5000 vacation and she will let you buy the performance upgrade you want!!!! LETS RIDE.

The only way I would even consider this motor is if it had a S&S on the side. Leave the building of motors to the experts or Proven Performance. My S&S 124″ has been awesome for 5 years and counting. HD, stick to spinning your story for Wall Street…you’re best at that.

    Reinhardt’s MC,

The Germans got a Jims 135 past the TUV Gestapo – so no fear in that dept. bro.

The rest is simply ‘good business’ – I am sure you have the textbook in one of your drawers.

All said and (not) done – it is the choice of the consumer.

Without going all MBA, keep in mind there is valuable equity in Original Equipment, like resale value, insurance, even legislation in some quarters (eg Europe), warranty, etc. Naturally the OEM will smack you thoroughly with an invoice, but that is why you guys are around, to balance our old friend the ‘free market’…

I have been nearly 3000 miles from home, fiddling with aftermarket stuff in a parking lot. Never again as long as I am in travelling mode….I’ll stick to what will be recognized at over a 1000 dealers. I travel a state or a province at a time, not a quarter mile at a time…
