The event will take place at the Springfield Museums on July 26. and will feature vintage Springfield-built pre-1953 Indian motorcycles manufactured in the city from 1901 to 1953. Visitors will be able to admire collectors owned old Indians from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Indian Day tradition was started in 2010 when Esta Manthos donated her extensive collection of Indian Motocycles, artifacts and memorabilia that are now on display at the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History.
Owners of old Indians will compete for awards in categories like “Best Barn Find,” “Best Sidecar,” and “Best Scout.” Attendees that bring a pre-1953 Indian will receive free admission plus a commemorative Indian Day button. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 17 years old. Visitors also wanting to tour the buildings may opt for Museum general admission tickets that include the access to the event. Commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase. For information about Indian Motocycle Day, call 413-263-6800, ext. 304 or visit Springfield Museums.
Ah yes…
A reminder of the days when motorcycles were actually valued for much more than just a “personality accessory.”

Great event, I go every year.
I have been to the “old museum” several times when Esta had it in the old Indian Building, Great Time, Great Bikes. I was out there 2 weekends ago. I was told it was next to the “Basketball Hall of Fame”, it’s not ! Nobody, ticket office, security guard in car, knew where it was ! I was pissed, drove home, I’ll do it another time. So, do your homework, checkout website, mapquest it ! I knew where old museum was, I knew where Basketball Hall of Fame was, don’t do what I did ! Plan ahead ! BJ
Bucket list trip !!!
