Universal And Water Resistant Smart Phone Carriers From Harley-Davidson

2Universal-Phone-Carrier1Universal-Phone-CarrierA smart phone can be a handy motorcycle travel companion, offering navigation service or music streaming through Bluetooth to a headset or infotainment system. Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories offers two new handlebar-mount phone carriers designed specifically for motorcycle use that secure the phone near the hand controls.

The Universal Handlebar Mount Phone Carrier right picture (P/N 76000549, $39.50) features dual thumb screw clamps that adjust to grip phones 1.75-inches to 3.5-inches wide in non-slip pads, in a vertical or horizontal orientation. The phone can be removed from the carrier in seconds.

The Water Resistant Handlebar Mount Phone Carrier left picture (P/N 76000576 for Apple iPhone 5 and 5S, P/N 76000605 for Samsung Galaxy S3/4; $69.95) features a hard case with a 360-degree gasket that seals the phone inside with a positive full-length hinge and clamp. A soft-touch membrane protects the screen and permits touch-screen functions. The case has a crystal-clear back for unencumbered camera use.

Installation of the Universal or Water Resistant Phone Carrier requires the separate purchase of a Handlebar Phone Carrier Mount (P/N 76000537, $29.95) which secures to the left-side or right-side hand-control perch. Its swivel head allows the phone to be rotated into the ideal position. The mount fits most 2002-later VRSC™ (except VRSCF and VRSCR), 2004-later Sportster (except XL883N and XL1200N), 2006-later Dyna® (except FXDB), 2000-later Softail®, 2009-later Touring (except FLHTKSE), and 2009-later Trike models.

The most dangerous accessory ever designed for a motorcycle. Talk about texting and driving, just how stupid can you be? Riding safety is all about situation awareness. Even if you don’t program these devices while moving a warning from GPS or an incoming call will take you out of the loop for that split second and it’s over. Riding without these distractions is dangerous enough. Sorry, I’m just not into pain. ..Z

How can a motorcycle company assist in mounting a TELEPHONE on a motorcycle? You are not that important, they will leave a message.

It’s not much different than the “infotainment” systems on the new Rushmores. Twits playing with their sound systems are just as dangerous…just sayin’.

Being “connected” is a contemporary cultural phenomenon.
    Motorcycling predates contemporary culture.

Social media is about as appropriate on a motorcycle as a toilet.
(either activity is better carried out elsewhere)

But then real motorcyclists know that.

The reason I like to ride, is it gives me a chance to get away from technology.

I’m on the phone & computer all day long at my day job. There’s nothing that can’t wait

Seems to me the point is to use the phone for tasks like GPS, route mapping, avoiding traffic…etc.

Just what a guy needs this summer so that he won’t miss any of Trump’s rallies 🙂

GPS?….. Sure, use it all the time.
Makes a good speedometer, a gas gauge, and mileage tracker.

Keep your phone in your saddle bag. Seen o=more than one near disaster from idiots paying more attention to their stereos & phones.

    But it’s the “etc”… social media clap-trap …. that’ll bury us.
“Texting” ….. (by anyone) just what motorcycling doesn’t need.

So, don’t text. Damn, y’all some Amish mofos around here. Did you know that it’s just as possible to get distracted from the road by reading your old-fashioned, low-tech German bibles while riding as it is by a new-fangled e-device?

It isn’t the technology. It’s the people. Stupid people will weed themselves out of the gene pool with or without technology (praise Darwin), so stop complaining and blaming the technology.

Motorcycles are themselves a technology, so you hypocrites don’t get to claim purism of your enjoyment of the open road and wind in your hair unless you’re on horseback.

No, wait, domesticating animals is a technology, too. You’re entitled to claim purity only up to as fast as you can run on your own feet, otherwise, shut up you hypocritical morons.
