75th Anniversary Daytona Bike Week. March 4-13, 2016

DaytonabikeweeklogoAll over Volusia County, from Main Street to Beach Street, from scenic highway A1A to Smyrna Beach to the Ormond Beach Loop, the 75th edition of Daytona Bike Week will be 10 days of high-octane street festivals, concerts, motorcycle races, bike shows, rallies, vendor showcases, and much more.

The Daytona Beach Bike Week rally started as the Daytona 200 race on January 24, 1937. This first race was a 3.2 miles (5.1 km) beach and pavement course. It was won by Ed Kretz from California riding an Indian motorcycle with an average speed of 73.34 mph (118.03 km/h). This yearly race took a break from 1942 to 1947 due to World War II.

During the years off, an unofficial event was still taking place commonly called Bike Week. In 1947 the official race resumed and gained in popularity. The event was then promoted by “Big Bill” France, co-founder of NASCAR. Today, Daytona Bike Week contends to be, with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the most popular US motorcycle rally in the United States.

I will publish very soon the main events, bike shows, exhibitions, concerts scheduled for this 75th edition. Stay tuned. You can already find a lot of info at the Official Daytona Bike Week Website.

Sturgis celebrated 75 years last year, I have heard turn out reached over one million…I wonder what Daytona will do this year with the 75th.

My favorite part of Bike Week is Willies Old School Chopper Time Show at Tropical Tattoo! It’s such a fun time and a great cause! One of the only things worth going to!

I’ll say – Willies Old School Chopper Time Show is the ONLY reason we come to bike week. We have been coming to Bike Week for almost 30 years and Willie puts his heart in this always fresh and real event!!

Chopper Time at Willies Tropical Tattoo “Old School Chopper Show” is the enough reason to head to Daytona. Bikes, Beer and Women, What’s not to love. 75th Anniversary will make it even better this year, looking forward to March 10

When I don my Tropical Tattoo tank top here on the west coast, I get the same reaction from those in the know. Their eyes light up and I immediately know that they have had the honor and good fortune to have been to Daytona Bike Week and partied at Willie’s Old School Chopper Time Show. It’s the real deal and the reason to head east to be a part of the coolest gig in town.
Willie rocks, his Chopper show kicks ass, the sun’s way harsh, but no matter what Willie says, I did not shoot his dog.
