Didn’t they go through this on the 2014 touring models.
whats wrong with a cable?
So this is round 3 of the same issue?
hydraulic clutch
Oooff!!!
I have a friend with a 2014 Trike that has been having those problems and recently changed it back to a clutch cable and the problems are solved.
I wish HD would go back to the clutch cable. The friction zone is unrecognizable with the hyd clutch. Lever effort is greater also.
I am not a fan of the HD hydraulic clutch, at least not on the FLHTPIs I wrenched on. A couple of the LEOs in the Motor Unit stayed with their old ’04 after test riding the newer units. On the ’04s I was able to install an easy clutch type of internal release, keep the cable lubed, and adjusted freeplay to suit rider preference and situation. The hydraulic clutch had no adjustment to speak of for operator feel or preference, but the biggest complaint and deal breaker was the extreme effort. The clutch pull was ridiculous. When you spend all day maneuvering through traffic and tight situations that is a major concern. I think HD really got this wrong.
Definitely a cable guy and wouldn’t have it any other way………….
ditto on this one
Definitely a cable guy and wouldn’t have it any other way……
and just swap out a cable in 3-4 years
SYF, go to Sturgis and you’ll see what’s wrong with a cable bro, lol.
Nothing wrong with hydraulic or cable, both need regular but different maintenance and perhaps more important, both need good design, well executed.
Stony, what does that even mean?
I’ve been to Sturgis. My clutch cable worked fine.
I don’t get your point.
The sweeping recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that “in the affected motorcycles, the clutch master cylinder may lose the ability to generate enough lift to disengage the clutch, especially if the motorcycle has been parked for an extended period of time.” The notice goes on to report that “when the engine is running and the motorcycle is in gear, if the clutch cannot be fully disengaged, the motorcycle may move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.”
