A Nickname For The New Milwaukee-Eight Engine?

1milwaukee82milwaukee83milwaukee8Flatty, Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, Evo.

Most Harley motors have nicknames, most often because of their shapes.

Are you able to find one for the new 107” & 114” Milwaukee-Eight?

I have seen a few nicknames already mentioned in “comments” of my previous features on this new H-D engine.

Find the one that will stick and you can get famous in the motorcycle world for being its creator. Be creative…

    MonkeyHead –

due to the face of a monkey depicted by the two “eyes” (formed by the rocker arm bumps), button nose (head bolt in between the eyes), and the protruding jaw where the pushrod tubes enter the head.

I’ve already used M8 in a few posts but BROAD HEAD would actually cover a wide bunch of topics.
Maybe BULL HEAD. That would make the city of Bullhead City, AZ pretty happy and would fit into the Laughlin River run event.

  40. 40 coma Aug 29th, 2016 at 7:40 am

the main differentiation to a whole lot (if not all) of previous -heads are the four valves per head.

    it’s 4-valve for me.

The best one will have no known author; likely barked out in jest and in some state of inebriation.

Looking at some of the comments, it must surely be.., DEADHEAD…

I am sure BONEHEAD will find favor with those who have models starting with “V” and “I”.

But lets get with it and not be nasty – as such my call is:

    BULLHEAD.

The knick name needs to have the word “head” in it. My first impression was the these rocker boxes looked like they had been working out. That’s why I favor the nick name “Muscle Head.”

  82. 82 boston jim Aug 29th, 2016 at 7:14 pm

“Head 8” (headache) works for me! I’m hoping it won’t be, so far I like everything it’s trying to be or do ! I’m waiting for the Softails, partial to the Breakout!

PS, there’s been many names for the 99 to 16 Twin Cam; T.C., Fathead, Twinkie, etc. The name I use the most is the “POS Motor”! Sorry, Sad but True, BUT, the MOCO brought it on themselves! This motor will go down in History as the Worst!!!

  83. 83 boston jim Aug 29th, 2016 at 7:28 pm

Hey Guys I forgot to mention this! As I was getting my 6 week drip, for 3 hours at the Hospital today, I’m watching the Discovery Channel, Chica vs ?, a couple of Gas Monkey Garage, they kept advertising a show for Sept., 5th. The Harley and the Davidsons, looks good, I’ve marked it on my calendar! BJ

Harley’s will never be off the line bikes until they lower the final drive gearing, especially the softail and dyna lines.

  102. 102 Doc Aug 31st, 2016 at 4:10 am

Blockhead was the evo. It was no match for the HD marketing tsunami. You can still find patches and pins if you are looking.

Fathead made the rounds for the twin cam when it came out. Again, it was no match for the HD marketing of the official HD tm name.

I like fourhead or forehead. Spellcheckers don’t like the first one.

  103. 103 jan richard carmack Aug 31st, 2016 at 6:31 am

Wethead is the best. I believe liquid cooled is more significant than “extra” valves.
