With the H-D LiveWire, the best looking electric motorcycle I have seen. Zero looks ugly.

    Cool.

This bike is pretty nice for electric. It also has many design ideas that could be used as a template for regular or custom bikes.

Will the juice-bike be equipped with a progressively faster “potato-potato” soundtrack – or be stealth-quiet to terrorize pedestrians?

Is history repeating it self! Way, back in the 1900s there plenty of motorcycle manufacturers. They played an important part in the development of gasoline engines for motor vehicles. Plus they where cheaper then cars at the time. Now grant you electric motorcycle are not cheap, but are cheaper then electric cars. When gas powered cars got just as cheap as motorcycles, a lot bike manufacturers went out of business. Now electric motorcycles builders are popping up all the time. They are cheaper to build then cars for number reasons. Just on mandatory safety features alone. I’m sure the car manufacturers are keeping a close eye on electric bikes!

    Ugly and no soul

Springtime has released a swarm of “Volt Jrs.” on 6″ 2-wheeled PepBoyElectric scooters gifted by the Easter Bunny. Youths ride them by the side of the road, next to the weeds, against traffic. Young kids too – non supervised like the Little Rascals and take to these pop-out bikes like a fish to water. Girls and boys alike.
I haven’t seen that kind of freedom released to such a young age group, since 1958. Come summer, kids will begin growing-up by their own bruising again – and promoting motorcycles as transpo to an “unintended” kid-market has no boundaries.

Beautiful and soulful. I’d ride the hell out of it.

Imagine how easy it will be to jump on and ride an electric bike at will. I once bought (4) Mocycl’s from an article I read on this site. I ran them into the ground before the year was out. I found smarter and more durable ones at Gotway in China. Having two electric gyro-balanced wheels in two separate places, allows me to traverse the asphalt drives that surround our split-level property – like George Jetson in a vacuum tube. If I forget a screwdriver or something from one level, I can blast-off to retrieve it without a second thought. The recharge takes about 45-min. and the lithium batteries last a long-time, and can be repeatedly recharged thousand of times over. As for styling, every time I ride the wheel, I can put it on it’s sidewall edge. I can make a surfing-style deep bottom turn, then reverse direction using only my hips. It feels GOOD to dig a turn, when wound-up with inertia and steady-juice, fly forward and really “feel” like I’m floating, and hanging ten. Instead of an ocean driven swell to propel me, there’s instant electricity providing the same push.
Electric motorcycles will come as close to convenient, as not having to wear a helmet use to be.

Very nice but I wonder how much of that 245kg weight is battery? What we need is a major breakthough in battery technology to make these bikes really viable.Halve the battery weight and double the travel distance between recharge and then they would be a serious competitor to the gasoline engine.

I love petrol but the future is bright! Yes battery technology will surely advance and i’m thinking wind turbine technology will advance too…. Looking forward to seeing some deigns with small fans/ wind turbines incorporated in body styling… the faster you ride the more generation for charging the battery.. further distances travelled… ha! we’ll see : )

    oh… & Regenerative brakes too

    The future has arrived.

Better looking than some of the previous offerings, but after almost getting run over by a Prius in a gas station because it didn’t make any noise and snuck up on me, I’ll pass on getting one…unless they take Kirk Perry’s suggestion and equip it with the progressively faster potato-potato soundtrack.

hey johnny speed : have fun riding the hell out of it , and have fun sitting for 40mins every 120 miles waiting for it to charge…until they can get the range up and the charge time down, these will just be an expensive novelty

I’d love to get my hands on any electric MC. Yeah, the long distance ride would be an issue. I’d only want the electric to supplement my other two fossil fueled bikes. Y’know, like commuting to/from my shop to home and pretty much just about anywhere else locally.

The future is DOA . Our ‘ so called ‘ president just put paid as of 3/28/17 to any and all EV’s in the US by eliminating all EV Federal subsidies , tax credits , guaranteed loans , carbon credits etc which without EV manufactures cannot exist including TESLA . So this’ns dead in the water with our future looking smoggier by the day

The lesson to be learned is no matter how much corporate cronyism one engages in with the Chaos in Chief as Musk has recently : in the end doesn’t amount to a hill of beans .

  18. 18 JohnnySpeed Mar 29th, 2017 at 12:28 pm

The Slob – Well considering my commute to work is less than 25 miles one way and I work for 8 hours, 120 mile range would work out just fine for me. More than I would probably ever use on a little bike like that at one time. I also never said it would be my only bike. So just relax.

  19. 19 Easygear Mar 29th, 2017 at 3:45 pm

    never ever …
Everything motorcycles are about is emotions, but to me there is less than zero emotions about that rolling battery .
If e-bikes would be the only choice i would find a better and more interesting way to spend my time and stop biking, although that is my passion for 34 years now.
Bikes are sensual, to me that includes acoustics and the mechanical appearance and performance of a fueled motor.
But those e-bikes …. not sexy.
Even (man-powered) bicycles are more interesting.

NO THANK YOU! i ride for the internal combustion sense of machine. electric bikes just aren’t worth the risk of being hit by a truck.
