The company is moving production of its Softail motorcycles from the plant in Springettsbury Township to Kansas City, Missouri, beginning with the 2018 model year.
Harley-Davidson will add 118 positions at its Kansas City plant. The layoffs will begin June 23 and last through late July.
Company spokeswoman Bernadette Lauer said employees were already told of plans for the production shift in November 2015. She said “no other layoffs are planned at this time.”

Like to place a bet on that ?
As for the 118 ‘ supposed ‘ new jobs at the KCMO plant . Funny no one there’s heard anything about that !
Ahhh corporate cronyism , alt facts and reality distortion in the age of Drumpf . Aint it just grand .
If the exact number of jobs was being transferred, did Harley offer the employees the option of moving? I would hope so, even if many wouldn’t do it.
It is not as if they are dropping an entire product range…
At least they are not moving them to India (YET). And they were told about it back in November 2015.
Not sure the need to bring politics into it HistoryFirst. This kind of crap goes on regardless of the person in office.
Even though I’m empathetic to HistoryFirst’s assessment, I agree with Mr. Air Cooled. Less politics is almost always a good thing. As for Harley, I usually rip on them pretty hard. Like the bone headed decision to kill the V-Rod instead of develop it. But since they did that opens up capacity at KC so it is what it is. Probably allows them to stabilize seasonal employment at both plants cutting some costs. Not exactly blasphemous…
HistoryFirst can protest and malign Trump. Meanwhile The executives at Harley have a company to run.
