Wheels Designed And Built To Run With Beringer Inboard Brake System.

Beringer has adapted aircraft braking technology for motorcycles. Per Beringer’s calculations the system delivers three times less gyroscopic inertia, a 20% stopping power increase (over a single disc setup) and about 1 lb total weight reduction. All the above is being complimented by a very unique look.

So, Andrei Rybkin at HD Wheels designed special hubs allowing from a 40 to 120 a 40 to 120 spoke configuration which you can use either with single or dual brake rotors.

These wheels feature steel or aluminum rims, billet aluminum hubs, and stainless steel spokes with almost infinite configuration options of style and finish.

Looks like it would work well, and it has a stunning appearance. Might have to add it to an upcoming build in my shop!

They look good, but I think those small rotors would heat up quickly with hard use.

It doesn’t help when you can’t find the product on their website. Looks interesting through.

Correction, the Beringer webiste doesn’t list these brakes.

Since they are spoked wheels I’m assuming you can’t run tubeless tires on these. No thanks – I won’t run with a tube. I like the addsd safety factor of a tubless tire.

This setup is on their site this morning in the, ” New Products” section. Looks pretty interesting and heating shouldn’t be an issue as these are a snatch and grab from the aircraft industry; tried and true with years of real world everyday usage. Look up in-board brakes on airplanes for reference.

Behringer has the small “4D” Brake system with the small double discs (like a car) since a long while, i like them a lot for the looks and the intertia thing is a good point too.
Still have them in the plans when future budget sets in…

The set-up above sure looks sweet, in my case unfortunately not for me as spoke wheels are such a pain in the ass to clean and to keep them look nice.
I swore to myself i will never ever again own spokes in my life, so the 4D-Brakes along with mag wheels is the way to go for me.

But for everyone in love with spokes and enough time and nerves to clean, this set-up is the real deal.

How can you say heat is not an issue? Aircraft brakes are designed for a single intense stop on landings with a long cool off period before the next use. The use of these in a motorcycle application sounds like a recipe for disaster.

If your worried about warping run a spool wheel it will never warp the rotor

    Hi Guys
    Thanks for your comments.
@ Will, Beringer inBoard brakes can be found at http://www.beringerbrakes.us under custom parts. There are several configurations, bolt-on for mag wheels and hubs for 36 to 40 spoke. What Andrei at HDW has done is very cool and thanks to his wheels you can run many different spoke configurations that we, at Beringer, cannot offer.
Obviously Beringer inboard system is not for super bike racing but it does work quit well for what it is intended to do, provide unobtrusive looking brakes on a custom bike that work better than a drum and better than a single disc in many case.
@Easygear the Beringer Aerotec 4D is a serious braking system that has won a national SBK championship on a Ducati in the past and was run by the factory Yamahas at the Le Mans 24H and Bol D’or in the 90s.

    @Beringer Brakes
Thanks for your info – i had earlier also read about the racing efforts with the Beringer 4D system, that is another reason why they are on my list ( i am serious when it comes to braking performance ).
I just forgot to mention that aspect in my comment, so when i said i like them for their looks and because of the intertia thing, i was actually incomplete.

What i forgot or didn`t know is that they have been around that long, i didn`t remember they were already there in the 90s.

They seem to be a serious braking system but due to their small diameter a nice custom piece too, i still remember them on the Holographic Hammer Ducati.

From the pictures above i was thinking that hub set-up from HD Wheels-Corporation is using the parts of the 4D-Brake, but if i got it right this seems to be not the case?
