1989 Street Tracker Sportster

The V-Twin industry is in racing mode and bikers are in a racing mood. From custom made motorcycles built in the spirit of the first wheel demons of the 1920’s and later to the current Factory Flat Track Machines, the highly competitive, adreline-fueled American Flat Track sport is attracting new fans every day. Building for display or for race is the new trend in shops all over the country.

The 1989 Sportster featured here is evidently much more than a custom dirt track themed motorcycle. Although its design would bring many gold trophies in many major bike show competitions, it was not the primary objective of its fabricator, Curtis Fisk, owner and operator of Maryland custom shop Full Circle V-Twin.

Most noticeable at first glance and making this Tracker quite unique is the overall setup with a single shock kit that has been developed specifically for the Harley Sportster frame. All the rest is superb fabrication, mixing beauty with functionality. A handmade aluminum gas tank, a one-off aggressive stainless 2-1 exhaust, and many body details preparing this Sportster for tough times fighting for a podium place. Maryland neighbor Zipper Performance was in charge of building the 1250cc Zippers/Full Circle V-Twin engine (more in a follow up article) and received full responsibility and freedom to prepare and fine-tune this machine before each dirt track Twins race. What about a kit for the current Sportster frame?

  3. 3 Brandon Aug 14th, 2017 at 8:06 am

    Like the exhaust design

NO! On a kit for the current frame. Rubbermounted engine and wider motor isn’t a great platform for a real racer. Plus the buy in for stock donar 4 speed evo XL is peanuts

Amazing what a really nice pre 2003 XL goes for in the Chicago area. Under $3K for a LOW mile example all day long.
    Best buy in motorbikes IMO.

This bike looks kinda cobbled together. Kind of a “let’s see what’s layin’ around, and use it kinda thing. The spindly single shock looks like it’s not up to the challenge of the engines power. The seat way above the rear tire is so 600 cc Japanese. Ducati can get away with the look, but not HD. And the farkely gold chain? Come on…Just buy a Buell.

Bitchen! Perfect picture location – at a Dirtrack – for a Dirtrack themed machine. The stance is on point.

Awesome design. Excellent execution of race inspired design. Suspension and performance parts obviously involving some insight and experience. This ain’t your daddy’s Harley! If you want a windshield and radio, just drive the car.

Mike Schmitz, a Buell is not even in the same ballpark as this dirt tracker.
So the gold chain is farkely? lol
This bike is as jim watson noted, on point.

    Mike,
Just for your information, because based on your very ignorant response to this build. Penske made this shock based on the geometry, weight and HP output. This bike, would smoke anything you got in your garage on the track. If you look at any XR750 race bike, you will see a single shock Penske along with the tail section way above the rear tire. Get off your high horse and appreciate perfection. You don’t like it? Keep it to yourself. But that’s just because your wallet can’t keep up with your mouth.

    Good find, Cyril.

Nice looking. Looks more like a Flat Tracker than any we’ve ever seen.

    Pretty Cool Mr. Fisk

Put a plate on the back of it and put a smile on your face (if you can handle it)…. 🙂

    Very nice tracker!!!

A fine build. I love farkely gold chains and functional rear suspension. Late model sportsters lack both.

    Beautifully done!!!
