As a yearly tradition, Fred Kodlin introduces a new custom during the European Bike Week (September 3-10) at Lake Faak, Austria This year, on Wednesday Sepy 6,the unveiling was done ar the Velden Casino on the west side of the lake with Fred Kodlin rolling out on a turbo charged 300 hp Speed Bagger named KR 300.
First, contrary to what some could think, the flashy paint job color is not in reference to Kork Ballingtons’s legendary Kawasaki KR 500, which raced in the eighties on the Grand Prix motorcycle circuit. As a matter of fact, Kodlin’s bagger has a higher hp. Client originally wished a relatively dull silver color, but as a good Custom Builder, Free Kodlin convinced him easily that such a one-off bike deserves a flashy paint job to be noticed and remembered by all.
“Basically, this KR 300 Turbo Bagger is the first Harley-Davidson “Milwaukee Eight” motor ,since its introduction 1 year ago, cradled in a very radical custom frame” says Fred. Of course, all bodywork is handcrafted out of steel at the shop , and is quite similar looking to the one of the ”F-32″, but with even slimmer lines.
To be mentioned, 2 weeks before unveiling, Fred & son Len were still finishing some welding, prepping then smothering all bodywork, working every day almost day and night. Meanwhile, renowned engine specialist Guenther Sohn prepared the engine, boosting it to 2040 cc and adding a Trask turbo system, probably the first tinstalled on a Milwaukee Eight engine. About 300 hp are optional in this current setup by specialist Sohn who is racing Top Gas and Top Fuel Harleys. As many of Kodlin’s bikes, this one rolls on a tall 30” front wheel. Most of his bikes are a custom building exercise, but one you can always ride confidentially and knowing that there will be only one like you on the road. And the beauty is that Kodlin has always a client ready to pay a big price for each of his fancy creations.
For my readers at or traveling to European Bike Week in Faak, Austria, from Tuesday September 5 to Saturday the 9, the Kodlin “Murdercycles” Show, presents the latest bikes and products of Fred and Len Kodlin. The exhibition is open to the public inside the “Casineum” of Casino Velden about 15 km from the Faak other event sites. Entrance is free of charge. (photos H. Roesler for C. Huze)
The bike as is typical for Fred is insane though I can’t say this one has the least bit of appeal to it .
But more importantly Cyril I’m glad to see you’re OK 😎
You like or hate Kodlin style, but this one looks like a variation of his former baggers. Maybe because it’s what the client specifically asked him to rebuild.
VOMIT
It’s a style. Not for everybody…
Fred Kodlin is making a living doing this for big bucks. He must do doing something right.
listening to some skynrd recently, “big wheels keep on turning, carry me home to see my kin….”
I wouldnt ride that crap even if you paid me.
“That back fender looks like the door off my PE locker in high school”……yup
Yup…that’s pretty hideous….
Not impressed – ugly too
If the haters haven’t figured out that European style is different than American by now there’s no hope. Look beyond the style to the craftsmanship and execution. It’s every bit the equal if not better than the typical cookie cutter Harely bikes we see.
It’s a miss, even under European standards.
I think he should have stuck to the originally requested silver paint. Puke green nust doesn’t cut it.
Hi,
Europe here. We would like to point out that the designs, views and opinions expressed by Mr Kodlin are his own and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Europe.
Thank you
Europe.
Kodlin’s bikes are always outrageous but usually within the realms of good taste and intelligent design Tcat . This one though is the exception . All outrage and wretched excess with zero taste and style looking more like a Transformer character than anything resembling a Kodlin bike 😎
Well built but not my style
So many d bag haters on this site.
Very easy to hide behind a keyboard.
Produce better or shut your mouth.
An absolute impractical fugly POS
Don’t care for the color, but it is a fine piece of machinery. I love the turbo.
I think I’ll hang onto my old “obsolete” Harley’s just it case the big wheel and Star Wars thing blows.
Over…….(that’s radio talk)
Rubber T latches holding the bag lids down, really?
ugly is too kind for that thing
I won’t call it a bike
its almost as ugly as the sling shot
I like it, it looks like very fun to travel , thanks already share,
