Following the sport’s hugely successful debut event inside the world’s only motorsports stadium this past March, American Flat Track will be back under the lights in 2018. Fans attending Bike Week At DAYTONA festivities can look forward to another action-packed evening as the top dirt track motorcycle racers in the world battle on a custom track built directly in front of the stadium’s ”World Center of Racing” tower. To kick the action up a notch in 2018, the race circuit will be re-engineered to feature a bigger, better, and faster track design. “I’m delighted that American Flat Track will feature again as a highlight of Bike Week,” said American Flat Track CEO Michael Lock. “The world-class facilities and a new, as yet secret, track design is sure to serve up a great evening’s racing for our fans.”
The 2018 running of the DAYTONA TT will serve as the launch point for American Flat Track’s coast-to-coast calendar, setting the stage for what’s destined to be another epic season in a sport where high-speed battles and victory margins measured by fractions of a second are the rule rather than the exception. “The DAYTONA TT rounds out a diverse racing schedule during Bike Week that includes Supercross and road racing,” said Chip Wile, President of Daytona International Speedway. “The inaugural event was a great success and we look forward to continuing that momentum into the 2018 event.”
Tickets for the 2018 running of the DAYTONA TT will go on sale on Monday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. on Daytona International Speedway’s website or by calling 1-800-PITSHOP.
Lets hope the new configuration of the track inside the tri oval is much larger.
Last years track was a total misconception of what flat tack truly is.
If AFT wants to show case Flat Track to a new audience then show them a real track designed for such purpose.
Many if not all flat track regulars would consider last years race track the worst in many years.
Can we please bring back the Duquion IL and Sedalia MO mile flat track races again?
The tracks are still there……………..
They desperately needed a new track, last years was terrible. There was zero passing and the race itself was pretty boring because of it.
