Putin’s 65th Birthday Gift. A Biker Bomber Jacket By Matchless London.

To celebrate Vladimir Putin’s 65th birthday on October 7th, legendary British motorcycle and clothing company Matchless London announced a leather bomber jacket inspired by the president of Russia. The $1,699 “Putin” jacket is crafted using a revolutionary leather treatment process that ensures to keep the wearer warm in minus 40 degrees Celsius weather.

The jacket also features a shearling collar and is finished with a vintage, worn-in effect. The style nods at Putin’s affinity for biker culture and his ties with the notorious, Kremlin-backed motorcycle club, the Night Wolves. Fashion getting political? Matchless states that this Jacket is the first product introduced from the Putin-inspired capsule collection which will include leather and cotton parkas, jackets, and coats…

Seriously Cyril ? I’d of thought better of you than to post a repugnant story such as this ! As for Matchless they can be guaranteed they’ll never see s single thin dime of my money .

  2. 2 Dan Bristol Oct 10th, 2017 at 8:51 am

InsideLine. What exactly is repugnant? It’s news showing an English MC company mixing marketing and politics to sell clothing. I think that what would be repugnant would be hiding a story like that. People must know.

  3. 3 rebel Oct 10th, 2017 at 10:50 am

    no shirt required

  4. 4 Chris Oct 10th, 2017 at 11:14 am

Putin as inspiration for selling consumer products? A guy who ruthlessly murders or imprisons his political opponents, who murders or imprisons members of the press for challenging his policies, who does nothing to protect and promotes the abuse and murder of homosexuals, who has annexed the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine at gunpoint, who supports the regime of Bassar al Assad in Syria who is using chemical weapons on his own people, who has interfered with and attacked the democratic process in our own country? This guy?

    This is shameful and disgusting.

  5. 5 BobS Oct 10th, 2017 at 11:42 am

Ah c’mon guys, you need to give America’s new president a chance! He won so just deal with it already.

  6. 6 InsideLine Oct 10th, 2017 at 11:57 am

    D. Bristol – Read Chris’s comment seeing as how he said it as well if not better than I could . Though I would add questioning why it is that Matchless is so desperate for business they’re now stooping down to the depths of the abyss using Putin as a marketing tool to whom I do not know . NewNeoEuroFascists perhaps ? Think about it .

BTW . Gotta say BobS . Political Sarcasm at its absolute finest . Brilliant .

  7. 7 Chris G Oct 10th, 2017 at 12:16 pm

Of course Putin is horrible George soros told y’all so.

  8. 8 Chris Oct 10th, 2017 at 12:21 pm

How low has the discourse and level of critical thinking in this nation sunk so that some population of this country believes that Russia is a trusted friend and ally while opposition to its policies is only a matter of political pandering.

  9. 9 Greeko Oct 10th, 2017 at 1:11 pm

Hey, InsideLine. It is not a post in support of Putin. It’s a post about corrupted brands dealing with the most horrible politicians, Between the lines, Cyril asks you to boycott Matchless London clothing (but the jacket is nice)

Exactly Chris look in the mirror, You obviously watch too much CNN maybe if you got out into the real world you would realize things aren’t so black and white as to what the ministry of truth has you believe.

  11. 11 dick Oct 10th, 2017 at 2:13 pm

Correct me if I am wrong but Matchless also known as AMC the AJS marque and a number of other previously swallowed up british names DO NOT MAKE BIKES.
They did but sadly no more.

This is no more than just a fashion statement like the guy with Ferrari shades……….

    Happy Birthday Mr Putin

  12. 12 Chris Oct 10th, 2017 at 2:22 pm

    @Chris G,

Don’t watch CNN (don’t have a TV, actually). I have, however, been to Russia, have worked in the Federal government, have a degree in Political Science with a minor in Economics, and my ex works in the State Department in the area of Russian relations. I’m certainly no expert, but I do base my opinion on fact, experience, and reasoning, rather than group-think.

  13. 13 bigjimslade Oct 10th, 2017 at 2:40 pm

So the group think is that Matchless is involved in global political statements
by making a Putin Jacket, which they probably intend to market in gasp! Russia! OMG!
If you don’t like it, don’t buy it, don’t buy anything from them, my guess is the majority bitching
in this little article comments haven’t bought anything from Matchless ever so it’s an empty
threat. Funny thing is it’s probably made in ZhuangDong by underpaid Chinese workers, but hey
lets get upset about a motorcycle jacket that’s names after a politician. No More Politics…

  14. 14 John H Oct 10th, 2017 at 2:43 pm

    Bunches of panty’s in bunches!

  15. 15 bigjimslade Oct 10th, 2017 at 2:54 pm

Oh Oh Look OMG Hes riding a Harley Davidson, OMG Harley must be in cahoots to sell bikes
to Russians using Putins Image, We need to come up with a conspiracy theory as to why HD
felt the need to de-americanize the brand, is HD now the Office Bike of Putin!, I’m selling my HD and buying an Indian now…. Oh the humanity! Does anyone want to get together later, make some s’mores and sing we’will overcome?

  16. 16 calif Phil Oct 10th, 2017 at 2:59 pm

BigJimslade is right. If you don’t like it don’t buy it.

  17. 17 James just another crazy kiwi Oct 10th, 2017 at 6:43 pm

Funny… If I had the choice of Putin or Trump … give me Putin every time.

Least ya know where ya stand.

And he did not start the latest mess in the middle east .. Blair and Bush went looking for weapons of mass destruction which everyone now admits did not exist.

Matchless is good kit, I wish I had the money to buy one of their jackets because from what I see they are the best !!!

  18. 18 GUNK Oct 10th, 2017 at 8:38 pm

Hey bigjim I heard from the FBI ,and the Democrats that Putin got the jacket from Matchless for hacking into H.D. ,engineering the last round of Motor Co.Union layoffs and arranging to ship the plant to Thailand In between overthrowing countries for shits and giggles on weekends and That’s how He got the jacket and The Hog. It ‘ll probably be on CNN and FOX in a couple of minutes. It’s only a jacket folks and He’s
no different than any politician. Find Me an honest one ANYWHERE!
Good article Cyril a jacket like that would be downright handy for rides up Here in The Great White North.

  19. 19 Highrider Oct 10th, 2017 at 11:47 pm

Naw, Putin is a Black Leather type.

  20. 20 Fzzzz Oct 11th, 2017 at 7:02 am

Holy crap! $1700? What’s so magic about it you can stand -40 weather?

  21. 21 Charles Oct 11th, 2017 at 7:12 am

It’s all good, at -40 your fingers just fall off just before the Siberia Tavern up the road a piece.

  22. 22 Hdrider Oct 11th, 2017 at 7:14 am

It’s actually a pretty crummy looking jacket.

  23. 23 Skeeter Oct 11th, 2017 at 8:25 am

Just Putin around on my Harley…. He must ride the FLHTCUKGB.

  24. 24 R Hammon Oct 11th, 2017 at 9:07 am

No eye protection on either rider.

  25. 25 Tom Oct 11th, 2017 at 9:19 am

    New 😮
    Wow

  26. 26 Charles from MA Oct 11th, 2017 at 9:24 am

Looks like a nice jacket – a little too bulky for my taste though. BTW, I never saw a biker jacket with a fleece collar/lining before. Must be for those cold nights biking in Siberia guarding the gulags…

  27. 27 Hillbilly Jim Oct 11th, 2017 at 10:02 am

Once again I beg you Cyril, keep politics and motorcycling seperate!

  28. 28 Johnny Gypo Oct 11th, 2017 at 11:39 am

Holy cow, Cyril! Ya really woke ’em up with this one!

Will there be a Putin chrome line soon?

  29. 29 Kroeter Oct 11th, 2017 at 11:48 am

    +1 to BobS and Skeeter!

  30. 30 Aaron Oct 11th, 2017 at 11:57 am

Weird. Of all the people to name it after, what has Putin done for the motorcycle world or even adventuring, exploring, etc.? Why didn’t they name it after someone from England or Great Britain — like the Shackleford, or the Simon (for Ted Simon) or Mallory? Matchless, what were you thinking?

  31. 31 Pegster Oct 11th, 2017 at 12:18 pm

Oh my, first world problems. what shall we do?

  32. 32 MMason Oct 11th, 2017 at 12:37 pm

Don’t care about the Putin thing. But it’s a nice looking jacket.

  33. 33 EASYGEAR Oct 11th, 2017 at 2:43 pm

I think Putin`s team is responsible for the trans/primary -oil transfer issue of the new 2018 HD`s.

But – as i do ride Evo`s, i don`t care much, also winter comes and the Evos still run, so…i should really think about that coat.

  34. 34 JohnnySpeed Oct 12th, 2017 at 7:25 am

Wow. Anyone who thinks Putin, who murders anyone who questions or opposes him in any way, is “just another politician” must be living in a terrifying alternate reality. Woke indeed. No wonder the US is still a 3rd world country like Russia.

  35. 35 Kelly Oct 12th, 2017 at 4:26 pm

The same people hating on an over priced Putin jacket wear Che t shirts under their SOA cuts!

  36. 36 Boss Hawg Oct 13th, 2017 at 10:33 am

Gotta love the jacket…what’s not to like about it other than price although I would never have a need for such here in Florida..

Happy Birthday Vlad…Put a breeze between your knees and Ride safe.

To the political snowflake naysayers here….move it own down the road (or better yet over to the sanctuary state) if you do not like Cyril’s posts. Surely you have better things to do or run for office with with your platform!

My hat’s off and a BIG THANKS to Cyriil for all he does in the industry and his freedom of the press here.

    Boss Hawg

  37. 37 MDSPHOTO Oct 14th, 2017 at 10:33 am

Its a related motorcycle story, like the jacket or hate on the jacket, but check that political shit at the door, I could care less about your political opinions. This is the 2nd story that devolved into political BS, I come here to get away from that crap.

  38. 38 Davis Oct 16th, 2017 at 7:37 am

News is news, is news, period. Snowflakes like to point out villains but don’t have the stomach to deal with them. This did not turn political until you cried first tear.

You are on a motorcycle blog, by nature we are above all of this, we are the most accepting people on the planet, relax and go for a ride.

  39. 39 hoyt Oct 17th, 2017 at 8:56 pm

    FckngMoron

Yeah, Tillerson won’t deny a second time b/c it’s obvious!
