Sons Of Speed Racing At 25th Daytona Biketoberfest Is Saturday October 21, 3.15 p.m.

On Saturday October 21st, at the New Smyrna Beach Speedway, thirteen daredevils will compete in races inspired by early twentieth-century board-track racing. Each one of them race a stripped-down motorcycle with a hand-made custom rigid frame fitted with a pre-1925 American V-Twin engine, with no clutch or brakes. Imagined by Custom Builder Billy Lane, Sons Of Speed hearkens back to a wide-open, full-throttle, thrilling style of motorcycle racing on steep banked tracks during the 20’s and 30’s.

This October 21st, the thirteen Sons of Speed racers are: Billy Lane,Shelly Rossmeyer-Pepe, Matt Walksler, Rhett Rotten, Rick Petcko, Mark Hanna, Josh Owen, Xavier Muriel, Ken Curtis, Buzz Kanter, Dan Toce, Brook James and Matt Harris. The competition rules are simple. Racers participate to different HEATS with winners advancing to a championship final round. General admission tickets at the gate are $20. 50 VIP tickets allowing infield access will also be available for purchase at the gate. (photos @ H. Roesler for C. Huze)

Without Brittney Olsen there to defend her New Smyrna crown, should be an open field. Buzz Kanter was fast in the spring and will be tough to beat but Shelly Rossmeyer-Pepe was strong too. Hope Rick Perkins has the bugs worked out as his is a handsome bike and you can’t discount the host’s chances. Can’t speak highly enough of my enjoyment of this event.

Anyone knows why Brittney Olsen is not competing? She would win again?

Hey guys! Just wanted to make a huge public THANK YOU to Billy and his family and all of those who are working so hard to put the Sons of Speed on and to all the wonderful fans who continue to support Antique Motorcycle racing!

Earlier in the season I went down on my 1923 Harley race bike at the Dairyland Classic Races in Wisconsin. Luckily I came out with a few bumps, bruises and a busted lip. My bike wasn’t so fortunate. After tearing it down we found that the frame, front fork and motor all need to be rebuilt.

Billy has named me Grand Marshall of the Sons of Speed race this weekend as I will be there in full support of the event, Racers & Fans!

    SEE YOU AT THE RACES!

I along with two other scooter trash buddies will be in attendance.
    Can’t wait!
