Indian Thunder Stroke 116″ Stage 3 Big Bore Kit

15% more torque and 20% more horsepower when compared to the stock Thunder Stroke 111″ engine. Outperform the competition at every stop light. Interested? It’s great performance upgrade for Indian’s Heavyweight Lineup. Priced in the U.S. at $1,999 plus installation, the new 116 Stage 3 Performance Kit will be available for order from dealers in December.

“The bagger landscape is seeing more and more emphasis on performance, with more riders looking to get on the throttle and carve corners as they would on smaller bikes, and that’s exactly what the Stage 3 Kit is about,” said Derek Meyer, Sr. Category Manager – Indian Motorcycle Accessories. “Indian’s roots are in performance, innovation and pushing boundaries, and this 116-kit is but one of a variety of new products riders will see from us moving forward, grounded in and driven by Indian’s performance DNA.” For more information visit Indian Motorcycle.

The 116-Cubic-Inch Stage 3 Big Bore Kit joins Indian’s lineup of performance upgrade kits. Indian’s Stage 1 Performance Air Cleaner and Thunder Stroke High Flow Air Cleaner creates more power and improves acceleration with added air flow, while the Stage 1 Slip-On Exhaust Kit delivers a deep throaty exhaust sound in an all-in-one kit for a powerful tone. Additionally, the Stage 2 Performance Cams enhances throttle response and increases greater power across the powerband.

I just can’t get passed the fake flat head valve covers!

    More power,Good!

And by “outperforms the competition at every stoplight” they mean is faster than the competition when the competition is stopped. This motor is a chrome turd when it comes to performance, the M8 with similar mods absolutely crushes it.

I’d like to know what M8 Bob is talking about, you would have to spend at least 8k to get the same performance! Keep in mind the M8 is not a new motor, Yamaha has been making a more powerful version for 10 years! “Haters just Hate”!

  5. 5 BobS Nov 19th, 2017 at 11:51 am

Kent I’m talking about the Harley-Davidson M8, you know the one that makes 140 horsepower with a big bore kit as compared to this Indian motor which struggles to make 90 even after the big bore kit. I will grant you though, I do hate the idea of spending that 8k you mention on a brand new bike that doesn’t even make 90 rwhp. Sometimes hate is well deserved.

So anyone who has a different opinion is a “hater”. Why don’t you snowflakes grow up, the wright bros had a different opinion, did that maker them haters, Henry ford had a different opinion on how to make cars did the make him a hater? When men have a different opinion they go to the drag strip or to the parking lot they don’t call each other haters, grow up!

BobS you’re so full of shit the thunderstroke is an amazing engine. Your continual whining whenever Cyril does an Indian article is getting old, I’m sure you are a good guy but trust me you sound like a fucking idiot

Good Days ahead. OEM kit, at least two aftermarket kits… folks are finally cracking the code on the beauties

Great more heat coming from a motor that already gives off way to much now! Indian need to go liquid cooling if it wants to keep up. Owned and sold a 2015 Chief. Test rode the M88 Road King. The RK is just a better more refined bike. Also gives of WAY less heat. Tried to like the Indian, just enjoyed looking at it more than riding it. Unlike my two Victory’s which I love both looking at and riding them.

ChrisG sorry if I triggered you but the only thing full of shit is this engine designed to emulate a completely different engine from a completely different era that is now trying to be marketed as something performance oriented. I comment positively on what I like and negatively on what I don’t, just like most everybody else. As for being a fucking idiot that would be true if I was wrong, but the numbers speak for themselves. A bone stock Indian 111 makes about 74 hp at the wheel. A bone stock Harley M8 107 is about 83. Pretty comparable. But pay big bucks for big bore kits and what do you get? Indian claims 20% more so that’s about 89 hp. Not impressive. A Screaming Eagle kit from Harley makes 120 hp and if you go aftermarket like from Fuel Moto you get 140. Now there is no comparison, 120-140 beats the crap out of 89 for the same mods.

why doesn’t indian have performance parts. Heck the dead victory motor makes horse power then indian.
polaris/indian does not make a fast bike period. Lloydz and Rylan and Kevinx make the horse power.
polaris is not very smart.Look at HD they sell the bikes then you can buy cams big boar and heads. What does polaris/indian sell O mufflers at a over price part

I always bash Polaris indians, the stock ones are great up to speed then they fall on their face , roll ons at highway speed are pathetic, the newest bike I have is a bone stock 15 year old twin cam bagger with lots of miles that feels stronger at 70 plus mph roll ons than the Polaris indian, the victory had power you could use , stage 4 for the Polaris indians should be a big cover to hide the fuglyness of the bike

    Seriously, BobS?
    You went there?

    These are CRUISERS and BAGGERS.

The idea of spending that kind of money to upgrade 20%in horsepower and or torque, on EITHER a TS111 or an M8 is beyond ludicrous, to me.

The idea here is comfort and style, not horses. Hence the word “Cruiser”.

OK, so, say you go spend that kind of money to upgrade a 25K+ bike to a ‘whopping’ 140 hp.

So…. Some 20 year old kid with a Japan, Inc. bone stock ZX 14 or Hayabusa that cost mebbe 15 to 20 grand outta the crate, and that rolled out of the factory with raw. bleeding edge tech, can spot you 200 yards in a quarter, and eat your lunch.
    Using maybe half his gearbox.

Or, some 30 year old squid with a bit of discretionary cash, can drop about 4500 bucks on mods, and boost either of those bikes well past 230 hp.
For $10 to 15k, if you have the cash (and a total disregard for your personal well being) you can get one up to 290+ horsepower.

    Seriously….”Performance bagger” is an oxymoron.

How ’bout we just enjoy the damn bikes, and forget the genital measurements by proxy, hmm?

  15. 15 BobS Nov 21st, 2017 at 6:50 am

Coffeebeans no I did not go there, Polaris did. Go back and read the first two lines of the press release this article is based on. Fwiw, I almost completely agree with you about sport bikes and have had many. But a cruiser that makes 140/140 is a much better cruiser than one that makes 74/105.

Do them Inujuns run their rear exhaust valve hotter than hell like HD’s? You can only pump so much HP through them two cylinders and heat is going to increase as HP goes up too. I never could figure out why HD never seriously addressed the rear exhaust valve issue.

Good luck keeping your jeans from starting on fire. Nice power but the heat will be insane coming off this already ridiculously hot motor.
