Roland Sands Slant Carbon Fiber Air Cleaner Kit

What are the justifications of adopting a slanted filter element? In addition of look, getting more knee clearance (almost a necessity on many bikes) that’s easy on the body during hard riding. This intake from RSD features a filter from K&N coupled with a backing plate shape from Vance and Hines for industry leading filtration in a simple no frills race-ready package. From $469.95 at Roland Sands Design.

• Laser Etched Black Anodized Cover, Black Anodized Backing Plate and Mounting Hardware.
• Carbon Fiber Ergo Trimmed K&N Filter.
• Powder Coated Inlet Adaptor.
• Made in the USA

$469.95???? Now that’s funnier than the “Joke of the week”.

Holy cr@p. Who buys this stuff?

I saw a plain cotton RSD flannel shirt listed for $175.00.

We live in free market society, so companies can charge whatever they want for their goods and services, market dictates whether it sits on the shelf or not. If they feel comfortable enough to produce a cotton shirt and list it for $175.00, then someone’s buying it.

Maybe that’s why the MAG group is bankrupt, they have too many $175 flannels on the shelf that won’t sell…

Damn Richards, you beat me too it. You stole the words out of my mouth!

An air filter is a simple thing. 50 bucks tops and all the air is free.
This is fashion bling, not a custom made part.

Another bargain from these guys. At nearly $500 a piece, I’ll take three. I am sure it costs Roland about $450 each just to produce such a fine example of American craftsmanship and engineering miracles. How do these guys stay in business with such a razor thin profit margin!

Isnt he sucking the PM teet? Not a whole lot of stuff he makes perks me up, you still have to give it to him, lots of money to be made out there from HOG riders.

I wonder how efficient this is ?

Some of his stuff I like (not this) but I will not buy any of it due to the damn LOGO being so conspicuous on everything. It ruins the part and makes the bike a rolling advertisement. You got my money, do I have to have your name all over my bike as well!??!?!?!

And I know others do it as well, but I shy away from those kinds of parts.

    Why so cheap?

I have to agree with many of the statements made here. There is just no reason on this earth that an air filter and its cover should cost nearly $500. There is not $100 worth of material here, and the R&D it took to design and build it would be paid for with the sale of one or two units. When are riders going to learn that as long as they continue to pay these ridiculous prices, the price will never come down. Oh yeah, I forgot!!! These are Americans I am talking about and most of them have about as much smarts as a Neanderthal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Logo everywhere? Yes, it comes from a little size megalo.

I’m laughing so hard at the price—Must live in Colorado—Smokin wayyyy to much weed !!
They must think we are rollin in money—Personally—It doesn’t even look great on the bike.
I totally agree with all the comments already posted. At half the price I doubt they’d sell out
    of these filters.

Good thing you paired this up with the ‘joke of the week’ post as well. Two jokes in one week!

Maybe the shape was inspired from the air cleaner on the bike he rode of the stage after the accident

C.Assborn- the reference is to all the big RSD logos on a wide variety of products. not just this AC.

Thing us much of the RSD stuff is made in China, this probably cost $20.00 to make and ship.
