New S&S Cycle’s Mini Teardrop

Created in 1975, the S&S Teardrop Air Cleaner has long been and remains the iconic shape of v-twin performance. Adding to that legacy, the new Mini Teardrop is a compact version designed around the S&S Stealth high flow air cleaner system for a simple install and, in most applications, emissions compliant as well. Modern performance in a mini classic new design

A natural for the HD® Sportster® and Street®, but looks and performs great on Dyna®, Softail®, and touring models as well. Available in chrome or gloss black as a full air cleaner kit or a retrofit cover for existing Stealth air cleaners. Available direct from S&S or through your favorite distributor. Nice evolution. It will mean S&S in a record time. It was time…

Like the classic original one will find its place on many bike styles.

Difficult to find the right balance between retro and modern. Mission accomplished.

    Great looking breather

Sweet looking and very functional. Reminds me of Indian Larry liking the ‘mechanicalness’ of things, at that point where form and function harmonise. Good job S&S!

yep, very nice! I don’t like the the exposed red/pink k&n type filter but I will simply change the filter oil to a black or blue or green depending what suits a particular build… great stuff!

What discount do I get off the $159.95 for the cover for advertising S&S Cycle on the front?

I like the teardrop since ages, and it is good to have a center cone.

But the original one has a functional air pocket (where the cover is getting long), to calm down air, like a mini-air box.
On the new one this function seems lost ?
The OG had written “form follows function” all over it, this one maybe is somewhat more shine.
If i`m right about the air pocket.

A carb / race professional once told me i should block off the louvered cover of my air cleaner on the front portion, as the direct incoming air from at front creates no good or constant air flow.

    Easygear,

Love that you’re thinking about performance. It’s what we do best!

The air pocket you reference is on the outside of the filter and therefore would not function as a mini air box. The teardrop shape has always been about aerodynamics and it’s the stinger (both original and mini) that smooths air and directs it into the intake.

Blocking off openings would decrease airflow and negate the point of a high flow air cleaner.

Like it but while you’re at it, bring back the S&S tear drop belt buckle too!

  17. 17 hacksaw Dec 13th, 2017 at 1:23 am

i guess bean’re is fortunate he could still tie his shoes wearing one of those buckles.

how about making this mini available in plain old aluminum finish? like the super B ?

I like it but doesn’t look to fit any carburated big twin do!

  19. 19 Marco Gallazzi Feb 13th, 2018 at 6:14 am

it fits on older stealth air filter kit?
i mean , should i buy only the new mini teardrop cover and replace the s&s standard cover i’ve got?
    measure are the same?
    tks
