Von Dutch’s Drawings Going Up For Auction

During the Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction on January 25, several of Von Dutch’s drawings are coming up for auction.

Von Dutch (real name Kenny Howard, 1929-1992) was one of the most interesting characters of the 60’s and 70’s Kustom Kulture scene He initially rose to fame for his pinstriping skills, but he also built crazy vehicles, cars and ,motorcycles.

To be auctioned by the Bonhams auction house are several of Von Dutch’s sketches of engine designs and others like guns. Each piece of art should be auctioned under $1000.00. Von Dutch’s work a good investment for the future? Bonhams.

Interesting engine, looks like the old Junkers Jumo 205, and the Gemini diesel aircraft engine now in development.

Don’t let H-D design the cam chain drive Looks cool, but seems the worst possible design for a twin. Dual crankshaft, combustion heat centered in the block mass, long primary chain. Maybe for yet another custom bike that only gets ridden 5 blocks at a time. Love a lot of his stuff, but this nowhere.

Looks like one side of the famous Delta engines that powered large trucks and tanks.
Three of those were connected at the corners by shared cranks to form a triangle. Six pistons and three combustion chambers.

Abbot self propelled gun used a 4 cylinder with 8 opposing piston 2 stroke diesel engine. Seemed to do the job as all diesels run better hot. AND then came turbines………………..

BUT with a little rethink a 1 stroke engine…………Can you work it out?
