New ‘1901’ T-shirt designs from Indian Motorcycle

Indian’s range of T-shirts continue to expand with fresh designs for 2018. The Indian Motorcycle 1901 Fashion Fit tees feature hand painted graphic designs that gives the range a distinctive style, as well as a fit that is closer to the body than other styles in the Indian range. Made in California, these t-shirts use a lighter weight cotton fabric for a more contemporary style. From left to right and top to bottom:

1901 Motor Oil Tee. The graphic on the front of this tee is inspired by a vintage oil can and shows the Indian logo plus a mention of Spirit Lake where Indian motorcycles are currently built. 1901 World’s Fastest Tee. The graphic on this features the outline of a vintage Scout colored like the USA flag and the fabric has been given a vintage wash.

1901 Grand National Tee. This tee celebrates Indian’s historic return to pro flat track racing and winning the championship in 2017. Indian expects this one to be a top-seller. 1901 Factory Team Tee. Another tee to celebrate the Indian Factory Racing team and it’s historic return to racing. With a simple distressed looking headdress and typography, this is going to be a popular style in 2018.

Putting “Since 1901” on there is pretty ridiculous.

  2. 2 Xenu Jan 14th, 2018 at 10:33 am

    Polaris Since 1954
    Indian till 1953

Installing a front pocket would be civilized.

  4. 4 Seymour Jan 14th, 2018 at 12:28 pm

    Legit no. Lame yes.

  5. 5 BOSS HAWG Jan 14th, 2018 at 2:56 pm

“Since 1901” is a little bit of a stretch !! Indian has gone out of business several times since 1901 and at one time was owned by a British firm called Stellican LTD before they sold it to Polaris.
I guess if Polaris wanted to cover all the bases they could put out a T-shirt that says “Indian, A British company 2004-2011”

  7. 7 Lyle Landstrom Jan 14th, 2018 at 6:55 pm

Stellican wasn’t the first British company to own the name.

That’ll get millinials attention, pretend to be really old!

Boss Hawg, Most retail printed t-shirts have been pocketless for some time now. My cousin’s screen printing business doesn’t even bother keeping them in stock anymore.

Geez Pockets, what will they think of next, lies about how long one has been in business ?

Dumb, they do not have to go down the road of false truths………………………….

  11. 11 Calif Phil Jan 15th, 2018 at 9:20 am

I like them all with the exception of the gray shirt.

That whole 1901 business was/is so pathetic that I simply could never buy a Polarindian bike, period, just because of the bile their 1901 marketing and PR folks built up right from the start. Wouldn’t even matter anymore if they stopped tomorrow, so I guess they may as well continue for the younger crowd. Even with that RP guy long gone, the bad taste still defies Listerine.

Haha love all you pathetic Hardley owners. Building crap since 1903

Fine! Then put the front pocket on the left side and not on the front. Imagine all the opportunities lost because you don’t have a 3×5 spiral note pad and a Marv (petite) pen handy. A t-shirt w/o a pocket is just a rag with neck and arm holes, imo.

  15. 15 Reyn Jan 15th, 2018 at 12:27 pm

Pockets, we don’t need no stinkin’ pockets

Really what’s with the ‘pockets’ thing on t-shirts. You can’t do a decent graphic with a pocket, the vast majority of graphic tees have no pocket.
What do you need one for?
You can roll you Lucky Strikes in the sleeve…

And why complain about 1901? HD was AMF for a dozen years and you don’t seem to mind.

Will go well with your skinny jeans and flip flops! Excellent choice for everyone’s safe space! And just so you know bikers use the front pocket for their phone, cigarettes, cigars and folding money. Harley still makes them with pockets if you want pockets.

  17. 17 Woody's Jan 15th, 2018 at 2:23 pm

Reyn, speaking just for myself (and I’ve owned 2-3x as many Hondas as Harleys), the H-D brand never went away, unlike Indian. Harley got new money guys and eventually stepped back from them, but they never missed a model year, didn’t bounce all over the country with new headquarters and mfg. locations, non-proprietary engines, etc. like Indian did. The Harley name was never bought as a name only and slapped on bikes with absolutely zero connection to the original Indian except a receipt for owning the name. I’ve got nothing against the actual current Polaris Indian physical offerings, judging them by their own merits or lack thereof, but the whole 1901 thing is separate from that. For me, there’s simply no similarity between the H-D and Indian story, and the whole AMF thing is a desperate attempt to somehow make one. JMHO, of course 😉

    Not one minimilast designs anymore…

  19. 19 Jeff Jan 15th, 2018 at 8:51 pm

Hey Biggles, that’s consistently since 1903, not come and gone by the wayside how many times. Lame marketing at its best.

  20. 20 Biggles Jan 15th, 2018 at 11:56 pm

Hey Jeff, AMF. Consistently being bailed out. Now I the owned by share holders. Haven’t got enough time or space to write down all Hardleys lame marketing ideas. If it wasn’t for clothing and accessories they’d be out of business a very long time agoHey Omar, maybe you’d like to discuss real bikers with Sonny Barger who rides Victory and now Indian in preference to HD

  21. 21 SIGFREED Jan 16th, 2018 at 4:29 am

    Mmmm…

INDIAN MOTORCYCLES – Constantly going out of business since 1901.

  22. 22 Somebody Who Would Rather Ride Than Complain Jan 16th, 2018 at 9:43 am

Are you guys serious, with this pocket thing? Could you not find anything else to complain about? Is your life actually THAT sad, that you have to complain on Cyril Huze about pockets on t-shirts? Put down the keyboard, and go ride your motorcycle, unless you’re just a sad keyboard warrior.

  23. 23 Dieter Sowade Jan 17th, 2018 at 7:24 am

    Maybe it should read :

“Since 1901 until…..” and then again “from ….. to ……” and then “now more recently, to (date to be advised)” ………..

or would that be too much wording ??? ☺☺☺

  24. 24 BOSS HAWG Jan 17th, 2018 at 9:02 am

    @ Matt W

Thanks for the retail enlightenment…As though I had no idea since I do not shop vendors that do not have pocketed t-shirts. In my case the only t-shirts I buy without pockets are undershirts for my dress shirts.

    Thanks again!

  26. 26 Davis Jan 24th, 2018 at 2:42 pm

    Yay motorcycles. FTW.
Some Millennial will buy and wear this, another informed Millennial will tell him of the 1901 error and then they will laugh and finish their lattes and will ride their bikes away, true story.

  27. 27 Doug Feb 4th, 2018 at 8:34 pm

Indian and HD wonder why shit is down. They hire people who don’t ride and never did. They hire them to surf the web and steal ideas and come up with marketing plans instead of actually getting out there in the real world. Buy the way you think they could steal better ideas …..
