Harley-Davidson Snow Hill Climb Motorcycling Debut at X Games

In an X Games first, Harley-Davidson® Snow Hill Climb will make its debut at X Games Aspen as a medaled event alongside ski, snowboard and other action-sports competitions. The new medal sport will close out X Games Aspen 2018, which airs January 25-28 on ESPN and ABC.

In the Harley-Davidson Snow Hill Climb, riders will race modified twin-cylinder motorcycles up the flat bottom of the SuperPipe course. In each heat, riders will line up side-by-side at the start line at the base of the SuperPipe for a head-to-head race.

The first racer to ride the length of the SuperPipe and clear the finish line at the top will earn the “W.” Each Harley-Davidson Snow Hill Climb race motorcycle consists of an extended swingarm widen frame and a high-torque, twin-cylinder motor.

“For 115 years H-D riders from all walks of life have expressed their freedom from the seat of America’s favorite motorcycle, so it’s natural for us to continue to blaze trails – this time off the road and in the snow,” said Scott Beck, Harley-Davidson director of marketing. “We’ve raced the ice and climbed virtually every kind of hill, and the Harley-Davidson Snow Hill Climb is another way for us to grow the sport of motorcycling. We know our riders, and X Games fans and athletes alike share a passion for adrenaline and speed.”

The gold-and-bronze-medal rounds of Harley-Davidson Snow Hill Climb will air January 28 at 10:45 p.m. ET live on ESPN. Preliminary rounds and qualifying will stream live at 10:15 p.m. ET exclusively on facebook.com/harley-david. The riders invited to compete in the Harley-Davison Snow Hill Climb are Logan Mead, Logan Cipala, Austin Cardwell, Jake Anstett, Dan Lauters, Josh Mueller, Louie Lauters and Travis Whitlock.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC will televise a combined 15.5 hours of live X Games Aspen competition in high definition, which will also be accessible via the ESPN app and WatchABC to viewers who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider. An additional eight hours of competition will be carried digitally/ESPN3 as well as the latest coverage across ESPN digital platforms, including XGames.com, X Games app, X Games pages across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and more.

Additional information on all X Games Aspen 2018 events will be forthcoming on X Games  for fans or on ESPN Media Zone.

Putting motorcycles in the X games, pretty smart move if you’re trying to show young people that motorcycles are fun.

Is HD just the naming sponsor, or is the event limited to Harleys only?

ESPN has teamed up with Harley-Davidson in a multi-year agreement as one of the official sponsors of X Games Aspen 2018.

Yea that’s what I need to be able to pay attention, some chick that knows nothing and loud music playing. Millenials are brain dead

I have spent 58 years on bikes, that video worked for me!
I’m pretty sure I’m brain dead,

Growing up in Michigan, 45 years riding for me, I like it! Good for HD.

Although it would be nice if they opened it up to more competitive bikes like their other motorcycle events, it will be a nice exposition to many that probably haven’t seen hill climb racing before.

Anything that promotes the sport of motorcycling is ok in my book. The girlie was easy on the eyes too and didn’t babble on long enough to take away from the eye candy either!

This is so cool … The girl in the video, Diana Dahlgren, “Miss Super Cross” while being part of the fluff, knows a lot about motorcycles from being around that sport for awhile now. Good to see her here.
All of the participants will be on modified Sportsters… HEY!!… Side by side racing!! … This will be fun.

it sucks if its harley only. and i love sportsters! but its pretty meaningless without inter brand competition.

    That’s silly.
Keep the snocross for the winter games and have motocross for the summer games.
I live in the northeast and we don’t do that $hit around here.
Ice racing is what they should have instead.
Gee, let’s race hillclimb bikes designed for dirt hills up a nice smooth snow slope.
The viewing public will think that’s an actual sport.
    Again, that’s silly.
How about attaching tracks to boats and racing them on the salt flats?

    Gotta agree with ya!

I simply can’t understand why a Sportster (or Indian, or Vespa) turned into a winter hillclimb bike could raise anger. It’s like screaming a mini golf course should only have one hole, or that Bonneville is wrong because it has no turns.

I see nowhere sportster only all I see is twin cylinder motorcycles and the blue bike in picture and on the video is a big twin, and complaining about a good looking girl is, well, crazy
