New 5-3/4” LED V-Rod Headlight

The Harley-Davidson VRSC (V-Twin Racing Street Custom), or V-Rod, was a line of V-twin muscle bikes, produced from 2001 until 2017. It is notable as the first Harley-Davidson street motorcycle to feature a modern engine with DOHC and liquid cooling. The VRSC models were absent in Harley-Davidson’s 2018 model line but remains popular with many in the USA, and much more in Europe.

Headwinds introduces their V-Rod LED headlamp (p/n 8-9556C). This chrome 5-3/4” 60/20W hi/lo is a direct replacement for the stock two-bulb headlamp. These powerful non-glare lamps are 4 x’s brighter & whiter than halogen (3,600 lumens high, 2,400 lumens low) and reach down the road like a bolt of lightning. It also has and a wide light pattern to illuminate the shoulder. Made with energy efficient solid-state LEDs that withstand shock & vibration. It’s easy-to-install, plug and play! Headlight mount not included. Contact Headwinds 626-359-8044 or sales@headwinds.com.

Fantastic! Another company copying the light initially designed & released by HogLights in 2016! Oh well, at least we know our idea has been a good one!

Nate, the HogLights V-Rod headlight is a cheap copy of the Victory LED headlight flipped upside down and you know it.

I thought the design was copied from JW Speaker, like most knock offs.

Roberto, the Victory LED light was designed at Polaris/Victory and engineered and built by JW Speaker.

CC, whilst the look is similar to the Victory LED, it still had to be engineered and designed. Flip a Victory LED upside down and look where the light patterns end up. The casting had to be designed and made from scratch. The electronics & optics had to be redesigned. A bit more work then just flipping a Victory.

We didn’t see HD, JW Speaker or anyone else do this. We wanted to give VRod riders the same level of visibility that most other cruisers have, so we did.

Nate, it’s still obviously derivative at best. Definitely less work than doing something completely original.

It’s great that you saw a hole in the market and invested in a product to fill it, but I think it’s a little rich of you to talk about “another company copying” your product when you did too (admittedly to a lesser extent).

Nate, in other words, you don’t know that Headwinds didn’t go through the same process Hoglights did (designing a casting, redesigned the electronics and optics, etc.), right? So basically you’re saying that they ripped off the Hoglights unit based on the look and design of it… which was derived (or ripped off) from the Victory unit.

This top IS on a CJ, it just happens to be a CJ6 long wheelbase model. Dispatcher Jeeps are 2wd and called DJ”s, but usually look pretty much similar to their CJ model mates. Top looks to be an early Sears of Kelly steel top although the area behind the seats appears to be a bit long.
