Teutul Sr. Bankruptcy. Numerous Discrepancies In Filing Documents.

Bankruptcy documents filed by Orange County Choppers owner Paul Teutul Sr. contained “numerous” discrepancies his new lawyer told the trustee hearing his case on Wednesday.

His new attorney Erica Aisner, told Trustee Krista Preuss that she is working to get up to speed on the case and provide a more accurate listing of Teutul’s personal and corporate holdings and lawsuits not disclosed with the initial filing.

At a hearing last month, Preuss doubted many of Teutul’s claims about property ownership. Among them was that his 3,448-square-foot Town of Crawford house, which sits on 38 acres, contained just $500 in “basic furnishings” and that the custom-motorcycle builder owned no bikes. Pictures of the house, which is being marketed by Ellis Sotheby’s International Realty for $2.5 million, include a garage filled with motorcycles, ATVs and a boat.

Teutul, whose “American Choppers” reality show has been resurrected by the Discovery Channel, listed no motorcycles and three cars of zero value: a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette with 5,000 miles; a 2010 Dodge Challenger with 3,000 miles; and a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro with 4,000 miles. Teutul also failed to list expected income from the new show which he said would be $20,000 per episode.

Just guessing but I think what he’s claiming is that he personally doesn’t own those vehicles; they are owned by his business. Possibly a loophole in the law that allows him to use said vehicles but not own them personally. Again; just guessing.

The property a person lives in/on is usually exempt from confiscation in a bankruptcy proceeding because the courts realize the person must live somewhere. Granted; no one needs 3500 sq ft house on 38 acres but the law doesn’t discriminate that way. It really depends on how the bankruptcy is being applied for.

The guy did something with motorcycles. If you see someone lighting firecrackers, watch from a distance, but don’t blame him for putting on a show. They did that.

No excuses. Rich guys who think they can get away with lies and bankrupt their way out of paying their bills while still claiming to be wealthy successful businessmen…suck.

C’mon now Bob, poor people and middle class have been screwing over their brothers and sisters with bankruptcies every bit as much as the wealthy. It seems that as with most things that are problems in our eyes, there is absolutely no will or incentive for legislators to change the laws. That said, in this case it looks like he may have gone outside the law or simply built the bankruptcy with the same quality and planning that many of the first choppers had. If everything is being done according to the law, I can only shrug and if he is breaking the law then he deserves the rewards that we all are supposed to get when we break the law.

C’mon Woody’s . Every class from lower to .1% does it but its the wealthy and especially the celebrity who get away with it scot free time and time again using shady connections , attorneys , accountants , fixers etc . Hmm . Sound like a certain prominent somebody constantly in the news ?

    No longer about motorcycles. Period.

2Devil, I would disagree, the less than one percenters get away with it constantly but they aren’t as visible or entertaining so they don’t make the news. I can’t be the only person who has run across folks who declared bankruptcy twice after running up their credit card bills and hid stuff at friends houses Etc to hide it. It’s a game that goes on from top to bottom and in this case it appears that it is being played very badly and he actually won’t be getting away with it, unlike many other low profile people.

Woody I draw no moral equivalency between the middle class and the wealthy abuser. In the case of the poor and the middle class a person files for bankruptcy because something bad happened like a job loss, illness, natural disaster….they are bankrupt because they have no money left to pay the debt. And for that we call them lazy losers and we’re going to amend the laws to force them to work off their debts. But when a rich guy who claims to be worth 10 billion dollars bankrupts six different companies with poor planing and inept management, or in Paul Sr.’s case one company ran into the ground with poor planning and inept management, we give them a pass. They’re still rich, why? If dude is worth 10 billion then he can sell off 60% of his assets to pay his six billion in debts.
Sticking it to your creditor because you lost a leg in an accident and can no longer do the job you did that afforded you to make payments on your debt is one thing. Sticking it to your creditors because you overpaid yourself and can’t manage your own company(s) is immoral. Sr., like others who have done this, has assets. More than we know ‘cause they’re probably hidden. Let him sell assets, man up and pay his debt.

Another guy who had the world in the palm of his hand and blew it because of greed. Too bad, I wouldn’t wish his problems on anyone, but there are far greater problems than he has.
What kind of bikes is he going to build on his new show? He really wore out the chopper scene with bikes that were never choppers. I wonder how much his theme bikes are worth today?

2 Bob, with “the poor and the middle class a person files for bankruptcy because something bad happened like a job loss, illness, natural disaster….they are bankrupt because they have no money left to pay the debt.” you make an assumption that has no basis except political belief/guesswork. Most bankruptcies are caused by medical bills, but your class stereotyping is BS. There are tons of peeps just like Sr, in ALL income levels, who have themselves to blame, and bankruptcy is the way the scamper off and break the stick off in their creditors’ posteriors. I can’t imagine morally letting off those who gambled small amounts vs larger ones.

He obviously had very good lawyers early on who insulated him and his business, no doubt through multiple shell corporations. I had this experience dealing with a POS bike builder in Florida years ago. As I learned the hard way, winning a lawsuit and getting your money back are two very different things.

  20. 20 BobS Apr 14th, 2018 at 1:57 pm

Woodys I don’t disagree with some of what you say, notice I included illness as a cause and never claimed those listed to be all causes. My point was it’s not the same thing. On one hand we have people who for one reason or another, still a reason, why they can not pay. They don’t have any money. IMO very different than one who has millions or billions in assets and CHOOSES not to pay because he has a legal means to do it. Both scenarios represent negatives but one also represent a bankruptcy of morals. As I said, they suck.

The ol’ man is playing the System TRUMP does with his bankruptcies. Make America Great Again!

  22. 22 Woody's Apr 14th, 2018 at 2:03 pm

I understand, Bob. I just don’t agree that the scale of a bankruptcy makes it any different morally.

  23. 23 BobS Apr 14th, 2018 at 2:19 pm

I also don’t think the scale matters either. The distinction I draw is when the individual still has assets and resources vs when he doesn’t.
