Who would have thought that the worst taboo word of the English language could provide so much social philosophy? This book presents images of real public signs that have been altered by affixing fuck stickers. The results are hilarious. For example, when you go to the park, please “Don’t Fuck The Pigeons”, or are you shopping at “Fuck Depot”? and be careful when you “Fuck Off The Valve”, etc. There is not one repetition in the nearly one hundred pictures! Yes, they’re all funny and some are ambiguous, provocative and profound. I liked the fact that none of the images has a social comment but that the book illustrates perfectly the sexualization of our society. Bodhiser, a designer and photographer, has spent months looking for the perfect signs to be “improved”, and is brilliant at demonstrating that utilitarian signs, with a slight improvement, can make you laugh, be subversive and philosophical. This book is not about provocation but a visual essay at performing street art. An extraordinary cultural commentary. Fuck This Book.
