A few words of tribute to Jane Russell, the dark-haired siren of Hollywood whose acting in the 1943 film “The Outlaw” challenged the strict morality of Hollywood and of her time.
She was much more than the favorite pinup girl of US soldiers during World War II, much more than one of the Iconic movie goddesses of all time, she was a real life class act, like very few. (picture from archives)
Was she not but hot. I’ve watched that movie a couple times.
I agree, a true goddess with class! peace
The OG Bombshell!!!
Well said Manhattan Choppers…my sentiments exactly! RIP Jane.
Apart from the trashiness of today’s “superstars” they all lack what Jane Russell had in spades: star quality. Last Sunday, at the Oscars, most of those ladies looked like some Mary Smiths who had just washed their hair but didn’t have time to blow dry. All of them are interchangeable. Jane Russell was unique. RIP
How about a little roll in the hay, waddaya say? Wiz
Thanks for remembering Jane Russell Cyril. Behind that famous sweater was a woman who loved motorcycles too. She rode with her brothers while growing up and finally got her own Indian motorcycle in the late 40’s. Check out my book, “The American Motorcycle Girls, 1900-1950” She’s on page 227, riding the bike and… uh, wearing a sweater too!
She was an Icon for lots of troops WWII,and Korea and a special person to millions of fans,Beauty never ends may she rest in peace…Martin
she had class
She is timeless….Rip.
