From 1894 when it became a federal holiday with a street parade to exhibit to the public “the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations” followed by a festival for the workers and their families, to today in year 2011, the meaning of Labor Day has changed a lot for most Americans.
Depending on who you are, the celebration became many other things 1- a symbolic celebration of the end of summer. 2- the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons. 3- school sessions resuming in many school districts across the USA. 4- Riding with your buddies during an extra long weekend, etc. Myself? Just wishing that Labor Day comes back to a celebration of All Americans having a job… Whatever it means to you, have a very Safe and Happy Labor Day Weekend.
Happy labor day weekend Cyril. I guess not stopping work on the blog…

You said it all,Thanks Cyril,happy Labor Day……..
It can be many things to many people. I’d like to see more Americans at work with a message coming from our country leadership to bring jobs back to this country. Action rather than words would be key.
What do republicans celebrate on Labor Day?
Well, i don’t know about “republicans” (or Democrats for that matter)….
But Conservatives celebrate the freedom of each individual to choose or create a job that best suites themselves. And we celebrate the freedom to keep the fruits of that labor.

Conservatives/Republicans celebrate the right to exploit the fruits of another man’s labor.
and democrats/liberals try to ban the right to attain their dreams… grow up poppymann ,life isnt fair, it never has been and never will be.
Poopy-man,
Your problem is that Stupidity doesn’t hurt.
Because it it did you’d get a much firmer grip on Reality.
