2013 Sturgis Bike Week On History Channel Monday 5th to 9th. Not in the Black Hills? Live part of it at home. Tonight Monday 5th in series “American Pickers”, watch the Indian Chiefs reveal, an Indian heritage piece, participate to Indian Sweepstakes, Bike Wash, etc. (9 pm et, 8 pm C). “Bike Week” continues with programming from August 6th to 9th on History Channel at 11pm et, 10 pm central, custom bike themes, Indian Power, etc. Should be very good.
Attendance Up For 1st Weekend. Will we ever know the true number? Anyway, the first weekend looked pretty good if you refer to impressions I got directly from vendors, from the city of Sturgis and from the Buffalo Chip campground. Sturgis city indicated a number of vendor permits just above last year and some vendors arrive only today Monday August 5th. Sturgis Main Street and Lazelle Street are packed with rally participants doing what seems to me to be more deep pocket spending than last year. The Buffalo Chip Has already seen record breaking attendance with numbers expected to increase in coming days due to more music concerts, new created events and activities. Today, CMT begins to film there a new Bike Week series.
Actor Johny Depp Making Purchase In Indian Country? Depp loves motorcycles, but it’s not the reason why he creates the buzz in Sturgis neighboringg Indian Country. Rumor is that he wishes to purchase a private parcel of land in the vicinity of the 1890 Wounded Knee massacre and gift it back to the Oglala sioux Tribe. Price? $4.9 million. If confirmed, it would be logical that Depp visits the tribe riding an Indian Chief, either pre-1953 or new 2013-era.
Five deaths On State Roads In A Period Of 24 hours, including a pair of motorcyclists. Drivers and bikers, please, please, please, be careful. I publish this post at 11.00 am mountain time and saw again 2 apparently serious crashes this Monday morning.
Looks like Cyril is going for a pleasure ride on the Indian Chief.
I’d love to hear some first ride impressions…
BobS. Give me some time. Riding each of the 3 models, one per day. Long rides. Lucky me.
Real papoose seat going there. Comfy? Looks so.
god bless the riders who lost their lives, wish everyone safe riding in sturgis.
We got to Sturgis on Saturday and it was an absolute madhouse. By the time we left on Sunday, there were already 3 rally related traffic fatalities. It’s a nice area to visit, but not during the rally. I doubt that half the people that go there are really into bikes. Mainstreet was full of people walking dogs, pushing strollers, not to mention all the campers…. There was more congestion and traffic than I ever remember there and it haden’t even officially started. I’m glad to be back home.
Must say that the blue Chief looks very nice in this pic with Cyril. Looking forward to seeing one, camera snaps never do justice to a bike. Suspect the bike may be a knock out up close.
Cyril. Great “non posed” picture of you,
A very nice looking scooter indeed…!!!
Spectacular motor….!!!
Only comment might be; It doesn’t need that “Fox-HD-esque” chrome fender brace.
It looks GREAT.
Hope it sells well.

You are one very lucky man Cyril , enjoy your rides and looking forward to what you think of the new bikes ,
Ride safe,
Phil S (UK)
Everyone’s waiting to hear all the juicy details of your date with the Indian. Come on man don’t leave us hangin’. How does she handle? ;).
The entire world is waiting for you’re opinion of the new Indian. The future of their billion dollar investment rests on your shoulders. An awesome responsibility. But, we all know Cyril, that you are up to it!
Cyril spends 1 day on the road per model. It’s 3 days of riding. And he has many other obligations in Sturgis. So, he will probably not publish his first impressions before this weekend.
Looking forward to the reviews myself.
As for the photo shot taken in front of an old dilapidated building, at least it wasn’t taken in the weeds just in front of an old hunerd year old barn with the front doors falling off whilst posing with a 2014 Polaris Industries Indian tribute bike….
Rodent you are such a prick…………

“morpion,
This is America, speak SPANISH or get out!”
Hahahahaha – Just to let you know Rodent; some of us got the joke.
Yes. Cyril has a lot of responsibility here. While your comment sounded tongue in cheek; there is still some truth to it. 😉
I know that we all are witing for Cyril’s impressions
Yes, there are other outlets that have publiched THIER first rides already
But if you want, what I consider the BEST opinion, Cyril will deliver in due time …
(Yes, you are very lucky to be able to ride them now)
A 3/4 carbon fiber helmet, “almost just like” the Bell that Cyril’s sporting, but instead made in China, of unquestionable quality at a price we can all live with, and of course, “free shipping”, because that’s China’s direct-sales program sales-shtick.
They have USA sizing down perfect. Lightweight, a size-Large fits 7-1/4″ diameter skull.
Direct marketed from the manufacturer in China, eliminating any middlemen, your credit card is charged, and then 20-30 days later your helmet will arrive. It’s a spooky transaction but covered by buyer protection.

Just make sure the black carbon-fiber helmet you want doesn’t have a huge orange stripe running down the center. You might have a problem canceling your order to China. 🙂
I was wrong posting the first link to carbon fiber helmets above, it’s got that orange stripe.
So, I would like to start over.
First off, the China company is very responsive to emailed cancellations. I already have an ETL carbon from China. They fit very well. Bell doesn’t make a “500” carbon fiber. They make a white 500 and a black 500, like the one Cyril’s carrying. You know how we can tell? It’s got the Bell 500 chrome-rail trim.
If you want a tight-weave charcoal/black carbon fiber helmet w/o the chrome piping, and don’t mind waiting up to 30 days for it, then this is the one. Check it out, chin strap, inside and outside. If the helmet you’ve selected doesn’t have all the views, then look for another. Every seller seems to be their own individual contractor, but working for the same company.
Once you buy it online, you won’t be able to go back and visit the same page, until you receive an email with you order# and a highlighted text that takes you to the facilitator’s site where your order resides. Then you can cancel it, 24 hrs. after you’ve ordered it, if that suits you. Not a problem. I have an ETL-100, 1/2 shell carbon-fiber from China. Great helmet.
I think this open face one weighs less than 2 lbs. Most open face weigh 2.2+ lbs.
