I must acknowledge that I didn’t know Rewaco Trikes a company born in Germany in 1990. It started producing Volkswagen then Ford engines powered trikes. Rewaco tried several times to break into the American market, did some sales here with a new RF-1 series, and now, via Rewaco USA based in Florida, expect to make some noise and acquire more clients with a RF1 Turbo R-Edition.
The new Turbo R-Edition model is based on the same platform as the previous RF1 GT & LT models, but this time with a turbo charged 1.6 liter inline 4 cylinder putting out no less than 201 hp! In addition, equipment has been updated with 19” rear wheels, Hi-Spec racing brakes, turbo “air scoops” on the bodywork, race chassis tuning and a sport stabilizer for the rear suspension. Will trike lovers want it to show the world that they still have a wild side? Rewaco USA.
yeah…. no
This one will not make me love trikes.
Footboard-highway bar would have to come off ASAP. Road marker lights….GONE! I like the two headlights tucked in by the triple tree but it seems they could have brought them just a tad closer to fill the small void by the triple tree. Spoiler is questionable. Headache bar….GONE! I’ve never seen a trike with apes, but with the rake & lines on this trike, I can see some semi-radical (16″-20″) apes on it. do away with the welded risers and go with some bolt on risers to compliment the rake and as well as the big front tire it has on it (which I like) along with what appears to be a FL front end. Of course, This is just my opinion as well as my friend Johnny Walker who just happened to stop by. I’m a two wheel guy through and through, but if my buddy had one and offered to let me ride it…….you wouldn’t have t o a s k m e t w i
I bet the price is out of sight.
Those are going to take up a lot of parking space at “Bike Night”.
My apologies, but the only thing I find good is that it’s turbo charged.
Drew’s 2 cents worth of internet opinion.
Over and Out.
Interesting. I can remember when Manfred Glanzner partnered with Axel Schulz in Ft. Myers Beach back in the early 2000’s not long after Manfred arrived fresh from Germany with his Boom Trikes that look scary close to these. The two later formed a partnership with Paul Skinner (a local bike builder) and relocated their operations to a new facility, also in Ft. Myers, FL., as Haus of Trikes & Bikes. by the mid 2000’s. Axel left the operation in the late 2000’s and then later Manfred split from Paul and moved Boom Trikes USA up the street from Haus of Trikes & Bikes who I helped to get set up. I’ve not been in contact with any of them since I moved my bike business out of state back in 2011. But I understand that Doug of Trike traders ( the parent co. of Rewaco) is unaffiliated with Boom Trikes USA who also imports their trikes from Germany. Manfred has worked hard to establish his Boom Trikes with a small network of dealerships for the past ten years or so but I think this style of trike doesn’t appeal to the broader American market as much as these machines are embraced by the European’s. Much like the Victory Vision….you either luv’em or leave’em.

H-D really did a good job of co-opting Halloween colors into their brand image. For better or worse, whenever I see orange and black on a bike I think H-D MOCO.
I get why the Rewaco decided to showcase their machine in H-D colors but I think another color scheme would have served them better. Why not black and yellow.
As for the vehicle itself: VW trikes were all the craze right along with dune buggies back in the 60’s and 70’s. They were sold as kits and purchased by DIY folks who enjoyed building things on three and 4 wheels. They were few and far between and you knew when you saw one that the person driving it did their own work which gave the owners cache. Today three wheelers like this machine shown here are a glorified version of yesterdays kits but with one major difference they are already put together which kinda misses the point behind the original intent of three wheeled car/cycle vehicles.

Amazing how much you people poo on something new and different. I think these are very cool, and a neat alternative to converting a 2 wheeler. I looked up their site, and the prices are pretty reasonable I think, starting at $36k. A new TriGlide, a top of the line Spyder or a Stallion trike will cost you close to that and they are all junk, imho.
My wife happens to own one of the few Rewaco trikes in Canada. I have been telling her that I think she just bought it to pick up men, because wherever she goes it is a head turner. All sorts of people are fascinated by it. She loves the machine, but like any does have its good and bad points.
So, what are the good and bad points?
thanks
