Riders in the Sturgis Buffalo Chip®’s signature Legends Ride® cheered Monday as Black Hills Special Olympics President, Jack Lynass, and Buffalo Chip President, Rod Woodruff, burned the note on a van purchased with Legends Ride donations. The van is used to transport Special Olympics athletes to events and training sessions. Some of the biggest names in television, film, music and motorcycling joined hundreds of riders from around the globe for the annual ride through the scenic Northern Black Hills that raises money for two local charities, Black Hills Special Olympics and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame. After six consecutive sell-out years, the ride has raised more than $325,000 for charity.
“The Legends Ride is a chance to meet and ride with some of the most well-known people in motorcycling,” said Rod Woodruff, Sturgis Buffalo Chip CEO. “But it was created primarily as a way to raise money for these very worthy charities. Burning the note on the van for Special Olympics should make every Legends Rider very proud. Everyone who has taken part and paid the rider fee helped to make this possible.”
