Dave Perewitz, nicknamed “King of Flames”, is going back to his roots and is now focusing all his time and efforts on what he loves and does best, custom paint design. His shop Cycle Fab is now managed by his daughter Jody who will assume the majority of the day to day management and other duties. She is well known for her racing career with a successful Land Speed Record in Bonneville and other accomplishments. A new paint facility has been established for Dave Perewitz’s work, usually revolving around flame jobs, candies, pearls and other custom applications. Dave Perewitz. 508-697-3595.

In 1 word, dave Perewitz retires…but will make some money in retirement doing what he loves and is much less stressful than building bikes. Painting. All a generation of well known boomers is going to retire in the next 5 years. Where is the young generation to follow?
Like father … like Daughter … I like it ! Here’s hoping Jody keeps the ‘ Hamster ‘ legend alive .. as well as a brilliant retirement plan on the part of Dave in my opinion . Scaling down rather than bowing out . A friend/associate did the same . Going from building wooden boats – to fine furniture – and now fine hand crafted acoustic guitars . Brilliant ! And … Old Guys Rule 😉
P. Bradshaw – Being a ( mid )’ Boomer ‘ myself I keep asking the same question . And maybe the answer for the moment is .. like the example Dave and my friend are setting .. for us to scale down/back rather than bow out . That way we’re still contributing and being productive as well as giving the younger generations the chance to learn from our experience .
The next generation is typically well represented on this page and shows nationwide. Wish the limpnickie lot hadn’t folded/scaled back but a lot of cool stuff being turned out from baggers to 650’s of all pedigree. I fully acknowledge the tremendous contributions of all the big names like Mssrs. Perewitz, Ness and all the forefathers, but I love watching the evolution too. Neither diminishes the other and a quick trip through Willie’s a week from Thursday will prove that the next talented generation is here and now.
Way to go Jody! Wishing you more great success!
Both are class acts, Father and daughter. Good job Jody.
Indeed both are class acts! I am sure both with keep on pushing the limits in the motorcycle industry and will continue to get great things accomplished!
Best of luck to both, the Perewitz name has meant quality for years and I am glad to see it continue.
Good luck you two, and thanks again for the doing the radio show.
Sounds like a good plan to me! Later Jay
Jody is up to the task to carry the name forward and in new directions. She has had excellent training over her entire lifetime, has already proven her mettle and is only getting started!
In the MC industry, successful transition to children is quite rare (Ness & a couple of other names) Anyway, hope that D. Perewitz enjoys his active retirement.
Thanks for compliments but I think this press release is a little misunderstood, especially the title. DP has not “given” me the shop. I have been a big part of business for a long time but things haven’t changed. Dave absolutely is NOT RETIRING, (ha I don’t think he will ever do that) we both are here everyday to run things. Except now DP is going to focus more on paint and getting back in the spray booth. So thank you for all the congrats but this is still a family run business which entails DP and I and our crew.
Jody, if your father gives you the day to day responsibilities of the shop and no more wrenches bikes, just doing paint jobs, it’s still a semi-retirement versus what he was doing before. Nothing wrong. Good luck.
Nowhere it is said that your father gave you the shop, but the shop responsibilities. It’s a logical approach when getting older and tired of the daily stress of managing a small business. Did same with my son 1 year ago.
Have a great time with it Jody, congrats and congrats to your Dad for slowing down and doing the things he loves to do…..Martin
So proud of you Jody… I saw it in your eyes the first time I met you when you were a young teenager. You got it girl! Much love and continued success in all you do!
It’s all good. Love the Perewitz family. It’s a great father and daughter team.
