“I want to thank the Cyril Huze Post for posting this news item. Debonaire, for whom I am founder and president ,i entered a licensing agreement with Indian Motorcycle for cigars, and believe that for those who choose to smoke, we will offer a premium and quality product that fits both the Indian Motorcycle and Debonair brands. We will make that debut at the International Premium Cigars & Pipe Retailers trade show this month.
I would also like to state that I am not my father. For over two decades I have not had a relationship with my father outside of sharing my Grandfathers name, and understand how some readers of the blog might assume that I am the same person. I don’t have any comment regarding my father’s past with this brand, but I can say with all confidence that I and Debonair are in full compliance with the Indian Motorcycle Company’s licensing agreements, brand standards and business practices.
I appreciate Indian Motorcycle and parent company Polaris Industries for partnering with us.” Sincerely. Philip s Zanghi III
Tobacco products kill more people than motorcycles by far and they say motorcycles are dangerous!
why drag generational squabbles into a product marketing arrangement? genetic, maybe? once a zanghi, always a zanghi? anyway something smells like a cigar. a question for polaris corporate: does this present merchandizing have to do with settling a historical agreement with zanghi II ?
Indian Cigars…since 1901 🙂 Thanks for the update, Cyril, it clears up a lot of the confusion from the earlier release.
I still maintain its a step too far marketing wise and in the very wrong direction
I like a good cigar from time to time, but really have no interest in a motorcycle branded one. Please Polaris do not go the way of your competition, focus on the hardware. The Indian logo does not need to be on everything from shot glasses to sun glasses….
Wooden Indian toilet seat soon to be released just in time for Christmas, also i would bet 10 out of 9 people don’t even know who this guy or his distant dad are.
So why is it branded as America’s First Motorcycle Company when it wasn’t and what do cigars have to do with Indian Motorcycles in the first place? The answer to both is “marketing” and I’m not falling for it.
Gee folks. Born yesterday much?
It’s a cigar. It’s a motorcycle. It’s an old Madison Ave. tool to generate premium identification of a brand. Which of the above is some kind of novel concept? Were any horses injured in the making of this film?
I think that the like and dislike camps should be happy that they neither have to buy the machine nor smoke the stick but that they can if they are so inclined.
Good gawd Martha. Come and see. Them motorcycle companies is trying to use marketing! Circle the wagons and bring me my bible. It’s the end of days.
OK, can’t help myself. One more swing at the pinata.
Really? Whining about health issues on a motorcycle site? It is to laugh.
No kidding, this is a motorcycle site. The goody two shoes clean living site is down the interwebs a couple clicks.
Sometimes I think that we have ceased being the people our parents warned us about and have become the people that our parents couldn’t stand because they were so boring.
Great Idea hope they do well and I don’t smoke.
I agree with Pop quit the smoking kills propaganda if you ride a bike then consider for many in the medical profession you ride a murdercycle because of all the brain dead people they have had to treat over the years who lost it while riding a motorcycle. Yet we don’t go on about the ills of riding.
How many who decry smoking yet ride without safety gear on?
Yes I like to ride.
It is just almost still a free world so smoke em if you like………..
But don’t go like HD with every bloody thing you can think of being branded HD.
It would be interesting to make a list of things that are not branded with the HD logo
1/ Sex toys 🙂
2/ white ware ?
3/ Cooking utensils
4/ Ummm
Why bash HD if you like Indian then Indian should have everything stamped Indian, sunglasses even sex toy’s if they want it just means more money in Indians pocket and really that is all anyone is after!
I’m not bashing HD, love em, I bought my first one decades back.
It is the over commercialisation of branding that I dislike.
Where’s the mystique when they stick their name on women’s under garments….mmm wrong choice.
I remember seeing a pink purse with Von Dutch on it…. to me that is sacrilege, but a commercial reality.Still does not mean I have to like.
Indian can make the decision to market their “Product”( that’s what the HD area sales manager for down here was calling MotoCycles. Makes one feel bilious. )
Like HD or take a more careful approach and aim it at a higher level.
Make it so that if it has the Indian logo it is a high quality product and not for the side walk commandoes like the people wearing SOA hoodies…………….
I am going on a bit here but I am sure most that read this blog understand what I’m trying to say ??
You guys crack me up.
Robert Pandya (real name).
Pop … you funny
Or is it poP?
So it is licensed by Polaris / Indian
I was wrong, but still don;t want any !
The saying goes “the apple does not fall far from the tree”
Some people are going to find that out ???
As far as the branding goes, yes, i would have higher hopes for Indian
But it works for the Mo-Co, who brands everything including the kitchen sink
There will always be somebody to buy it
At least that’s what P.T.Barnum thought !!! LOL !!!!
Where can I get some?
