On Monday August 3rd, several hundred of bikers joined Sturgis Mayor Mark Carstensen at the City of Riders Motorcycle Expo for an escorted ride on several of the Black Hill’s most spectacular two lane roads and byways. Objective, to celebrate the 75th Sturgis rally and to raise money for the Volunteer Fire Department, Ambulance Service and Police Reserves.
For the 13th edition, motocross, freestyle, off-road racer legend Carey Hart, the first rider ever to complete a back flip on a 250 cc motorcycle, was the official grand marshal and led the ride with mayor Mark Carstensen and Sturgis Indian dealership owner Bruce Eide.
Before getting started participants received a one-of-a-kind Mayor’s Ride Souvenir Gift Pack including a limited edition decanter signed by Mayor Mark Carstensen, a limited edition 2015 t-shirt, a 2015 13th Annual Sturgis Mayor’s Ride pin, a 2015 Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club pin, and other collectibles from each of our 2015 Sturgis Mayor’s Ride Corporate Sponsors.
The route highlighted several Black Hills attractions and the ride ended with a luncheon at Custer State Park.
