New RCX 3.0” Mufflers For The Indian Scout.

RCX_ScoutIf you think that the factory Indian Scout exhaust is too heavy looking for a mid-size motorcycle, you may like the new RCX 3.0″ Slip-on Mufflers from RC Components. This unique baffle design works to produce great back pressure while producing a deep and aggressive exhaust tone. In 1 year there will be 50 aftermarket exhausts for the Scout.

The Factory Indian Scout exhaust is ugly. Good opportunity for the custom vendors.

I finally rode a Scout last month.

    Aaaaaaah – it is terrible!

Indeed the stock pipes are fugly – but that is not the worst.

    1. It has zip, zero, nada, low-end torque. Yes, it comes to live above 4500rpm (or so), but you have to work it – not the kind of thing you want if you want to relax. Perhaps a belt pulley ratio change could be sort of a cure – other than more severe engine and/or mapping work.

    2. The front end is as soft as you know what after three weeks on honeymoon – only in a seriously bad way. After a while I felt like riding it into a wall just to bend the font fork so much it would lock up. If nothing else Polaris must change the valves and/or put in thicker oil; stiffer springs will upset beginners (but certainly what I will do).

There is massive room for improvement on it – for those who can jump in first there is a huge potential aftermarket (for the above and a number of other things).

I own a Scout, rode it 2/3 times a week during the last 4 months and completely disagree with your comments. You looked very biased to another brand! Just be honest and say it.

“There is massive improvement on it….” Please. People have been saying the same of HD for years. Maybe ever. Harley tax ain’t an urban myth. And this will eat any Sportster. Ever. Made. And I love Sportsters. When they were Sportsters.

Nice looking and reasonably priced, too. That Scout is looking better and better.

Very nice, much better than stock and prettier than the Honda Magna they look like they were taken off of 😉 Where next? There’s the JC Whitney rear turnsignal treatment, the horrible slab-sided fenders, brown seat on an all-black bike, and the first person to do a nice upper engine appearance kit will be able to retire regardless of their current age.
